Bag issues

It has good power; unfortunately the bag to collect vacuumed leaves does not stay in place. It falls off and does not fit properly. As a blower it works well; as a vacuum it is not good with the user having to hold the bag in place so that it does not fall off from the machine's exhaust port.

Wimpy, and stay away if you have acorns.

Have had it a few years and don’t care much for it. The blower part to me is very underpowered. I’m getting a much more cfm unit instead. To do anything I gotta hunch down to the ground. The vacuum is okay? Besides that if you have acorns just don’t bother.

I bought my first toro blower about five years ago. It lasted about three years. Then what I am sure was the rheostat on off switch went out. I liked the blower so I didn't learn the lesson and I bought another one. I used it about ten min. last fall to blow saw dust out of my shop, and then twenty min. again this spring (a few days ago) to vac a few leaves I missed with my Stil gas blower last fall. Thats it 30 min. total.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The vacuum and blower work great.. it’s the vacuum bag zipper that stinks!! Replaced several times and the zipper breaks after 3 uses… Tired of pinning the bag together in a pinch… GET A BETTER DESIGN OR BETTER QUALITY ZIPPER!!!!
For the money, the zipper should last more than 3 uses!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the Toro Model #51619. I am guessing I have purchased at least 8 over many years. But, I have never made it thru an entire leaf season without the bag developing a hole and / or the zipper breaking. I slowly zip and unzip the zipper but, ultimately I have a problem.
This purchase was to replace my old Toro, which I really likes. The newer, updated model is even better. The metal blades is a huge improvement over the plastic one and the variable speed switch is also a nice upgrade. I use my Toro Ultra alot, and it holds up year after year.

When I read the reviews on this blower some years ago, I saw that the infinite speed switch was subject to failure. Because it was so powerful, though, I decided to buy it anyway, and just plugged and unplugged it instead of using the switch. Over the last few months though, I got lazy and decided I was maybe being overcautious so started using the switch to obtain variable speeds. Sure enough, yesterday I switched the thing off, then back on again only to abrupt, complete silence. No smoke, no clicks, no hums, no sparks, just silence, dead as a rock. So this AM I went into it and bypassed the switch. Now it works, only it just has full power with no speed adjustment, and the plug is my only on/off mechanism. I wonder if Toro has ever fixed their switch problem.
