I was so excited to get this to match the cafe refrigerator we have and it’s nothing but a disappointment. The instructions are lousy. It uses more coffee grounds and nets less coffee. I am using auto drip grounds just like I did on my Cuisinart and every time, there’s grounds everywhere afterwards. I shouldn’t have to take the unit completely apart and clean it after every brew. If I am using too many scoop, please let me know. Otherwise I’m done with this. It’s less than a month old and I will be returning it.

Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We're sorry to hear that your excitement for your new coffeemaker has be damped a little here. We'd like to help as best we can.
There is always going to be some level of coffee ground and oils that splash back onto the showerhead lid when the maximum level of coffee grounds is used. What you want to avoid is having the coffee grounds overflow into your coffee in the carafe. Here are a few causes for overflow, and some ways to avoid it:
-Brew Basket Filter
Your coffee maker comes with a gold mesh basket filter in the brew basket insert. You can use a No. 4 paper filter instead, but using both the mesh filter and a paper filter will cause grounds to overflow into the basket insert or could splash coffee grinds and residue on the underside of the lid.
-Coffee Grind
We recommend using a medium-grind coffee, when possible. A finer grind is more likely to lead to an overflow of coffee grounds.
-Amount Used
We also recommend using the scoop that comes with your coffee maker, and use a flush level of grounds. Heaping scoops can lead to too much coffee grounds and can potentially cause overflows.
We hope this is helpful for you and that we can keep you and your business if possible.
We have been making pour over coffee for years and finally decided to use a machine. I have to say the Cafe does a great job and isn’t that far off from my V60 pour over in flavor (a lot of it comes from beans, grind size, etc.). Like the ability to schedule via wifi with the app and control the temp.
Love love the look of this coffee maker, however when it’s time to perform it truly sucks. This supposed to brew up to 10 cups of coffee, every single time I brew from 4-10 cups of coffee I ended with coffee all over my counter and inside the carafe, it is ridiculous. I’ve change my coffee, I have grounded my beans more coarse and still happening. Let me remind you this stuff happens when I brew 4 cups of coffee. Ridiculous

Hello- We agree! This is such a beautiful Coffee Maker and we are so sorry to hear you are having these issues. We will be happy to help provide some troubleshooting tips that will hopefully help. There have been instances where the owner has placed the cap on the carafe backwards. If the cap is on the carafe backwards, dripping or leaking will occur. There is an arrow molded on the top of the lid and it should be facing toward the spout. Please check to make sure the cap is on correctly.
Note: If the carafe is not firmly in place and pressing the drip stop on the bottom of the basket, then the brewing basket could potentially overflow. There is a sensor in the base of the unit that detects if the carafe is not present, and in that case it will give an Error message and notify the consumer via the app (if set up). But the sensor only detects the weight of the carafe, not its exact position.
If the above doesn't help, please take a look at the following link to assist with returning it. https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/small-appliance-returns.htm

I purchased this product because it’s beautiful and set it up. Now, setup was not easy as someone would imagine. I have downloaded the required app, SmartHQ and not able to connect as it requires a password that this product did not come with. It does not recognize the serial # or advise what product id is required! AND, the manual does not provide how long the coffee stay warm!

Hi there, we're pleased to know you're finding your new coffee maker to be beautiful, but sorry you've been having issues with the SmartHQ app and that you didn't have information available on how long the coffee stays hot. We can understand how this would get frustrating for you and we're happy to help.
For help with the WiFi, we recommend you call the GE Appliances Connected Home Support Line at 1-800-220-6899 or email connected@help.geappliances.com.
Also, the thermal carafe retains the heat of the coffee for a minimum of 1 hour after brewing. We hope this information is found useful to you and we're wishing you the absolute best. Thank you for choosing Cafe Appliances.
