Great comfort and battery life, missing a few feat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the JBL Quantum 650X for over a month, and it's been a great all-around headset for gaming and work. The comfort is excellent - I can wear it for hours - and I really like the overall fit and size. They don't look oversized or bulky on my head, which is a big plus compared to a lot of gaming headsets. Battery life has also been outstanding; I've only charged it once since getting it. The clean, modern aesthetic, removable mic, and replaceable parts (including the battery) make it feel thoughtfully designed. Sound-wise, the spatial audio is the standout. Directional cues in games are clear and immersive, and it performs just as well for Teams, Zoom, and Slack calls. The dual-connection options (Bluetooth + 2.4 GHz) make switching befween devices simple, and the onboard controls are easy to find and use without fumbling. A few things could be better. Even though the battery is removable, you can't actually buy a replacement yet. At this price, the lack of noise cancelling is noticeable, and without passthrough audio, it's hard to tell how loud you're talking during calls or late-night gaming. Overall, the Quantum 650X nails comfort, fit, battery life, and sound quality, with a clean look and intuitive controls. If ANC and passthrough aren't must-haves for you, it's a strong, versatile pick.

Great sound. Great features. Will they hold up?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'll be upfront with you: I'm not a gamer. I don't know what a "kill streak" is and I have no intention of finding out. I was handed these JBL Quantum 650x headphones and they said "just tell me what you think." So that's what I'm going to do — from the perspective of someone who listens to Steely Dan at a reasonable volume and needs to hear his collegues on Zoom without asking them to repeat themselves four times.
First Impressions
Out of the box, these are good-looking headphones. They feel substantial when you pick them up. I've owned a couple of JBL products over the years — their older over-ear sets felt like they were built to survive a war. These feel a little more... optimistic about their longevity. The plastic on the ear cups and the headband adjustment mechanism gave me pause. My previous JBL headset took a tumble off my desk more than once and laughed it off. I'd be more careful with these. For a gaming headset at this price point, I expected a little more heft in the construction.
That said — and here's where it gets interesting — let me tell you about the things that genuinely won me over.
The Battery Situation: Finally, Someone Gets It
The replaceable battery is, without exaggeration, the single best feature on this headset for anyone my age. I cannot tell you how many pairs of wireless headphones I've retired not because they stopped working, but because the built-in battery gave up the ghost after two years and I was left holding a perfectly good set of electronics that was now a paperweight.
With the Quantum 650x, you simply swap the battery. Done. It takes about 30 seconds. I tested it. My wife watched me do it and said "well that's sensible." High praise. If every wireless headphone maker did this, we'd have a lot less landfill and a lot more happy customers over 50. JBL deserves real credit here.
The Sound: Better Than I Expected, Especially With the App
I was skeptical about downloading yet another app onto my phone. I have too many already and most of them are useless. But the JBL Headphones app surprised me. The built-in sound profiles are genuinely good — not gimmicky, not over-engineered. I found a profile that suited classic rock and jazz beautifully, with a warm low end that doesn't turn into mud and a high end that doesn't make a saxophone sound like a smoke alarm.
For Zoom calls, the clarity is excellent. People on the other end have commented that I sound better than usual, which I'm choosing to take as a compliment to the headphones rather than an insult to my previous setup. The microphone handles background noise reasonably well — I tested it with the dishwasher running, as one does.
The 2.4GHz Dongle: A Blessing for the Bluetooth Skeptic
I've had mixed experiences with Bluetooth over the years. Dropouts, pairing issues, that three-second lag that makes everything feel slightly off. The included 2.4GHz USB dongle is a revelation. You plug it in, the headphones connect instantly, and they stay connected. No fussing, no re-pairing, no asking the computer why it's suddenly forgotten the headphones exist. For desktop use on my iMac during Zoom calls or a long afternoon of music, this is the way to go. Bluetooth is fine for casual use, but if you're sitting at a desk, use the dongle. Trust me on this.
The Verdict
If you're buying these to frag opponents in some online battlefield, I'm not your reviewer. But if you're someone who wants a versatile wireless headset with outstanding battery longevity, a legitimately useful app with sound profiles that work, and a rock-solid 2.4GHz connection for desk use — the Quantum 650x delivers.
Just set them down gently. They're not quite as rugged as JBL's older stuff, and at this price, they should be. That's my only real gripe. Otherwise, for a boomer who just wants great music and a clear Zoom call — these do the job admirably.
4 out of 5 stars. Half a star lost for build quality. Half a star given back for that replaceable battery.
Review unit provided for evaluation. All opinions are my own, formed over forty years of buying things that either last or don't.

Quality, comfortable all-around headphones for mus

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve wanted a pair of over-the-ear headphones for a while, so I was stoked to get my hands on the JBL Quantum 650X. I have a lot of JBL products that I’ve picked up over the years, from home to car audio, BT speakers, & earbuds.
Out of the Box: The 650X came with a cool purple charging/direct connect cable, a USB C to A adapter, and a wireless adapter. The battery comes with the 650X, but not installed, showing it can be swapped or replaced. Having replaceable parts is a really good feature to ensure long term use. The mic also comes detached and is easy to plug in.
Comfort & Fit (9/10): The 650X fit very well and are comfortable for prolonged use. I’ve worn them for hours around the house while working on various things and had no issues with them slipping or feeling too tight.
Sound Quality & Features (8/10): First off, the sound quality when listening to high res audio is terrific. However, when I downloaded the Quantum app to my iPhone 16 Pro, I was pretty disappointed in the features of the "EQ." It works like the older-style fake EQ's that don't actually let you adjust the treble, but tone down the other frequencies. It's pretty obvious, especially if you're listening to music. If you increase treble, the overall volume instantly lowers. If you then change the bass or mids in the other direction, it gets even quieter. I know these are designed for chat & gaming, so take my observations with a grain of salt. If you're gaming on a computer, you probably have an EQ with your sound card software, so this may not be a problem for everyone.
For chat/business/work calls (8/10): The overall sound is good and you can swap between Game or Chat in the back of the right earphone. The mic is flexible to a certain extent, but can only be used in the left side. It is not adjustable from one side to the other. The mute button is on the bottom of the left earphone, which is inconvenient. There are 2 different audible noises to let you know whether Mute is on or off, but no light you can see while wearing the headset. My usual work headset (1/4 of the price of the 650X, albeit with lower quality sound for music) has a mic that rotates 180* so you can technically flip the head set and have the mic on the right or left or flip it up and out of the way. My work headset also has a light in the mic so you can visually see when mute is on. Most games (or Teams, etc) will indicate this, too, so this may not be an issue for everyone.
Overall, these are good for a quality starter headset, but they lack some convenience features and don't compete with some of the other gaming headsets around the same MSRP. That being said, they work well for chat and calls, as well as music if you are happy w/ the Quantum EQ flat or running them from a computer with a separate EQ.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Jbl quantum 650x
Gaming sons review...New favorite headset!! I don't know what l appreciate more the comfort or the sound!! The lightweight support band is great!! It doesn't hurt my head! After hours of gaming does not hurt ears or head!! JBL in my experience has the best sound and the gaming headset did not disappoint but somehow surprised me on how crystal clear the sound was! It felt like my buddy was in the room with me not on a headset. Actually the sound was better in the headset than in person, it is insane!!
My review... my son, daughter and myself all love the JBL Quantum 650x! My son games with it and my daughter likes using it for work! Both kids love that it is wireless. The sound is amazing on both sides. The head set is comfortable and convenient. The ease of setting up the blue tooth is nice. I personally use this head set when I am making calls and doing things around my house. I have never had more clear conversations and the people I speak with comment how clear I sound and when I tell them I am walking around my house on a headset they are amazed. While using the phone I was surprised that I was able to hear my 3 year old niece crystal clear when she wasn't even on the phone. Since the microphone is removable I have been using the headset to listen to music and podcasts so it's more than just a gaming headset! It's not noise canceling but I am unable to hear people when they are in the room talking to me without removing the headset. The battery life on this headset is outstanding we have had weeks worth of use without charging it and all of us have been using it. I honestly don't know how we lived life without it the only problem is now l need to go buy 2 more so we can all have our own!! Highly recommend the JBL Quantum 650x, it's outstanding and a purchase I promise you will not regret!!

Light, comfortable, and well tuned with a flat gam
on May 11, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The design of the headphones is fun. The stretch band headrest on the top is a super comfortable design. The whole unit is fairly light, so it’s easy to wear for a long time. I don’t have an Xbox, so I couldn’t benefit from the audio mix dial on the right ear cup, but it would be a super useful feature for people using it for that. The audio quality is good, nice and flat as you’d expect for a gaming headset. The biggest disappointment is the mic. Not only did they use the old-school cumbersome design of having a separate boom mic that you plug into the headset, but its audio quality isn’t as good as other headset mics. The headset has a removable battery, but only comes with the one, and no battery charger, so besides repair utility it feels a little wasted as a feature. If you had a second battery and they could charge outside the headset, then it would be useful as a swap for extended wireless play. It’s a nice headset with a fun design, but missing some features that would have made it truly great.

The most comfortable!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These headphones are sooo comfortable. The elastic mesh band that rests on your head keeps the weight and pressure away from extended use during gaming. There is enough padding in the headphones to even make them comfortable on your ears with glasses.

Quality Headphones with lots of percs

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love these headphones. They do a great job of giving a balanced sound for any type of game/media I put it through. It’s actually flat to the point where they’re not bad producing with. The cool thing I like about them is that I can get a more punchy sound by using the EQ setup that comes in the app.
They’re also very comfortable. It’s almost like these things hug your head. I like having them on because they’re the perfect balance weight wise. My only reason for taking off one star was the material of the cloth cushion. They look cool but if you wear glasses, you’ll hear them squeak. Other than that, everything else is great.
