Not water proof

About 5 months old. Used it mostly indoors doing electrical work. Used less than a dozen times.
Now dead. I bought it because it was rechargeable and because it was waterproof.

Apparently it's not waterproof. A little sweat got inside and now it won't turn on. If I charge the battery, outside of the headlamp, and put it back into the unit, it turns on without pressing any buttons, and stays on until the battery dies again. Was nice while it worked.
Disappointed, because it wasn't cheap where I live.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Although the FL85R is not waterproof, it is water resistant with an IP54 weather rating. So long as the headlamp wasn't submerged, it should be able to handle any moisture it encounters. Best headlamp for nighttime running

Best headlamp for running at night, hands down. I would give it 99 stars out of 100; it would be perfect 100 if you would sell it with a rechargeable battery. I currently replace the AAA batteries after about 20 miles of night time running.

Got this about three years ago, it is super bright and a long life. The on/off button broke and Coast is so awesome. The lifetime warranty really works and got a new one. Thanks again, you guys are all the best

Very bright light with more than enough battery. I like the fact that it's a dual power source, meaning that you can use regular batteries or the rechargeable one that comes with it. The only minor drawback is that it's got some weight behind it so after wearing it for a few hrs, you'll notice it after take it off! As an owner of a the smaller FL1R I was drawn back to the company based on how much I love that little light. Once again, no disappointment. Yes, I would recommend this light.
