Great Output, Quick ReCharge

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I picked up this headlamp to accompany me on my finishing trip down on the Texas coast. The area we fish is literally forty plus miles from civilization, and boy does it get dark at night on the surf.
The first thing I appreciated about this lamp was the sheer brightness. I was able to see bait lines more than 75-yards out in the pitch black. The ability to focus the beam is also critical. Awesome functionality.
It is also excellent to be able to use only the red lights to avoid blinding my fellow anglers. I would frequently adjust the beam focus, and power to fit my needs.
Best headlamp I've ever used. Awesome stuff.

Poor light

Bought at Costco switch stopped working on second press of the button light would come on by itself and not shut off or would shut off then come back on a minute later. Use coast products a lot never had a problem before
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this headlamp to use during nighttime mountain biking and skiing. This headlamp throws a nice array of light which can be focused to a spot light if desired. Rechargeable battery feature is great - even better that regular batteries can be used in a pinch. Super functional.

I love this head lamp

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I got this I had no idea how much I would use it. You put on your head you are hands free and the light it puts out is amazing. The lights went out the other night during a storm it was so great to put on my head and walk around and to be able to see everything. Had to get under sink and it was so great not ya omg yo hold a flashlight or try to place where you need to see.

Great Headlamp

The FL85R is a great headlamp. Comfortable to wear,not too heavy. Has nice adjustments to direct light right where you need it. I never owned a headlamp before and this is my first purchase. I wanted a high lumen output while staying as small and compact as possible. I found this to be one of the better options, and it performs well. I wish it was brighter,but like I said,the compact size,comfort for the amount of Lumens you get was worth it. I would definitely recommend, and would buy another. A little pricey, but hopefully the durability/longevity will make up for that.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This head lamp is generally great. Some of the pros; the light is very bright. It can also be adjusted to be a flood light or a more focused beam. It’s also got red light options if you’re trying not to blow out your night vision. It’s comfortable on your head. The cons; it’s a little heavy, so not for ultralight backpacking (but great for all around family camping). Due to its weight, I’d say it may not be good for things like running at night (May bounce and fall off). But, my greatest dislike is how hard it is to turn off. You must cycle through 3 phases of brightness to get it to turn off; each phase of brightness involves holding the button for a few seconds

Great for Camping

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My family and I do a lot of camping during the summer months and normally use flashlights when hiking through the woods. This headlamp came in handy for night time adventures. It has the ability to shine a wide range beam to a spot beam. My favorite feature is it's weatherproof and impact resistance, so if you drop it your good. I like the adjustable reflective safety strap it comes with and a fixed red LED light that helps preserve night vision. Overall, exquisite quality, extremely durable and virtually unbreakable. I definitely recommend as an added benefit to outdoor safety gear.

I bought this after listening to the Hunt Back Country Podcast where they compared all of the headlamps and it came out on top. But because it was Coast and not Black Diamond no one wanted to really use it. I use it because it is rechargeable and i carry a battery pack with me into the back woods. All the features are great. Last year I even purchase two more as back ups but different colors to identify. I use one at work and one at home and one stays in my pack. I even got an extra rechargeable battery for the all nighter elk pack out. The strap that is reflective works too. I have loaned mine to guys with out a headlamp and I can see them well from behind with the brightness of the lamp. PS. The battery out lasts all the others in the tests. Congrats you make the best one even if I am the only one using it. Thanks I will be buying more.
