The tilt mechanism for reading/gaming is cheesy. Not smooth and very awkward to adjust in/out. Feels like it will break very easily. Also, no screen protector unlike other otter box cases

Sorry to hear you're not feeling super confident in the durability of the shield stand portion of the Defender Series Pro case for iPad (10th gen). The mechanism that helps allow for hands-free viewing and such didn't give us cause for concern during our internal testing, but we'd certainly be happy to help with a warranty replacement if something should come up.
As for a specific screen protector, although this model doesn't have one built directly into the frame, we do make some stand-alone ones that can be paired with the case for extra security if you'd be interested in adding another layer to the mix. I’ve used Otterbox on every Apple device I’ve ever owned. The folding stand for my IPad 9 was perfect. The folding stand for the 10 is a joke. In making it super adjustable you’ve ruined ease and functionality. I’ll be amazed if this frustrating, flimsy stand lasts even a couple of months. The case is great as always but I use the stand often. Terribly disappointed.

It has taken me a bit to familiarize myself with the versatile stand that is built into the case. The mechanism to change the angle seems a little bendy and thin, it makes a lot of creaking noises upon moving, so hopefully this won’t affect its longevity. Everything else about it is good and as expected from Otterbox.

The solid plastic clip on back and stand see aweful the case itself is alright but do not waste your money just go buy i nice one piece you will break the stand becuse it is weak and very hard to close and open especially don’t recommend for protecting a kids iPad get something easier to use

Thought the case I bought came with protective screen in the case. turns out it did not have one. Wish I knew that I would have bought a different one. It’s for my 9 year old so protection is a must. Would hate to damage the ipad
