The shave is closer, substantially faster by at least a factor of two, more broadly useful, and the heads are easier to clean.

I have replaced my shaver head every year. Now with the new RQ12+ shaver head I can do it much more infrequently and just replace the blades. This is an amazing improvement to an already great product and design. Over the many years I have owned my Philips Norelco SensoTouch3D 1250XCC unit it has allowing performed fo me.
Pros: wonderful smooth shave and dependable unit

Very close shave

I have a model 1255X razor have had it for a little over a year ordered new replacement blades. I love the new RQi12+ blades much easier to clean gives me a very close shave. They are a little pricy Hoping that the price will go down as will only need to replace blades in future. the cover is a little flimsy side clips broke in less than a week if they could redesign the cover to a solid cover like older Norelco razors had it would be much better

Don't let the whiners stop you from buying and using this product. Yes, it's not as heavily built as the previous incarnation (with the cutters that rotate up for cleaning) and it has a cheaper feel. It shaves just as well as the older shaving head and is perhaps easier to clean with the cutters being removable as a snap in module that detaches easily for cleaning. However, Phillips has gone the route of ink jet printers (inexpensive printer, pricey ink). In this case a new razor costs slightly more than the replacement shaving head.
Pros: shaves as well as older "preferred" heads.
Cons: costs almost as much as a new razor

Didn't think I'd like the "new" shaver head configuration. Wrong. I really think it performs better than the original "old style" that came on my 1280X model. I like it - a lot!!
