New design, Great Shave

I’ve been using my Norelco 1290X shaver for 4 or 5 years. When I first got it, it produced a very good shave but after a year or so I had to replace the head. Unfortunately, by then the head design had changed to the 2nd generation “improved” RQ12 Plus (RQ12+ or RQ12/62). This head did not produce the same quality shave and I’ve been disappointed since. The general reviews were not very good for the head, either.
I finally decided that since it’s been a couple years, the blades must need replacing so I reluctantly ordered a replacement set. However, in spite of having the same model name as the “improved” RQ12+, this set is actually a newer 3rd generation design and is giving me the best shave I have had in quite a long time, if not ever.
The 2nd generation was called the RQ12/62 while the 3rd generation is the RQ12PRO or RQ12/72. So, make sure you get the head with the "72" in the name.
Pros: great shave, make sure it is the rq12/72
Cons: beware the rq12/62

I admit I was concerned when I receiver the new model of shaving head. But, that all went away as soon as I used it! A noticeable improvement in performance from the old model. Two thumbs up!!

RQ12+ Shaving Head Replacement

I struggled with the mixed reviews before purchasing the RQ12+ replacement shaving head for my Norelco SensoTouch 3D 1255X. Given the price and with all of the negative reviews, I was more than apprehensive about ordering a replacement or just purchasing a new shaver. I am still confused by the fact that information seems readily available for the "RQ12/62" but virtually no information is provided specific to the "RQ12+". In fact it often appears that the RQ12+ and the RQ12/62 are the same item? Hopefully, I can help others by reporting my experience. I purchased the RQ12+ Shaving Head Replacement and it works very well on my 1255X SensoTouch 3D. This replacement shaving head is constructed very differently from my original shaving head but it shaves as close and comfortable or better than when my original shaving head was new.
Pros: very smooth and comfortable shave, easy to clean
Cons: it seems expensive, same fragile protective cover

Does anyone at Philips have information on when the replacement heads will be available..They are impossible to find?
The razor is unbelievably good. The shaver foil design is the only one I have ever found that can grab any type of hair...I'm surprised its design is not used in all foil designs.
Pros: shaves anything

Shaves like a Norelco should!

I've used a Norelco Triple Header since the age of 16 ( my Dad bought my first one for me), I'm now 58 years old. I now own the 1250x and still love the results of this razor as I did as a young man.
As for the new RQ12+ shaving head, this is my take. I do agree that it is a little harder to clean than the original was, but it shaves as well or better than the other did.
As for the guy that said it didn't open, and he got no blade tool or instructions all I can say is buy your replacements heads from a reputable source and you'll be much happier. I got the head, new blade cover, blade removal tool and easy to understand instructions with my retail packaged replacement.
Buy it, use it, you'll be happy with it. I am!
Pros: close shave, shaves wet or dry, washable
Cons: a little hard to clean.

RQ12 shaving head replacement

I just found out the Norelco is coming out with a replacement for the RQ12 with in the next couple weeks. It will be called the "RQ12 Plus". The lady I talked to at Norelco said it well be much better than the old style RQ12 replacement head.
