New head harder to clean than one that came with razor

Replacement Head for 1255x shaver was harder to clean. Instead of just opening the 3cutter blades & running under hot water. I had to call Phillips & ask how to clean replacement blades since you could not open the indivdual blades & no instructions for opening the head were included in the instructions. Only how to replace the entire head?????
Call hot line & was told to use 3 fingers & press on the indented sides of the head. So we went from easy open cleaning to difficult opening to clean blades. beyond stupid for a improvement. However love the shaver but find it harder to clean now.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Worst product change in history

The head for the 1280x SensoTouch that came with the unit was a solidly designed, well machined exceptional product. Almost indestructible and always reliable. It had three hinged compartments to hold the individual blades.
It was replace by this head which at best could be described as a toy. The top half snaps onto the bottom half but constantly falls apart during shaving with moderate pressure.
Norelco took their top of the line shaver and turned it into a horrible product by exchanging what was a great shaver head for a cheap unreliable one.
They still make the best electric shavers in the world, but stay away from any models using these heads

LOVED until they changed the blade

GREAT razor -- have had for over six years. Loved it! Unfortunately, when looking for a replacement head a few months ago I found out they no longer make the same head - a replacement is offered but doesn't do nearly the same job (the new one pulls and cuts).
Not sure why they felt to discontinue this one, but now I'm looking for a new razor.
Cons: replacement blades are awful

I paid extra for getting the model with cleaning system but I guess philips decided to stop producing the original heads, and have us clean it manually with this new head
Cons: not compatible with cleaning system

Expensive!

Use the Senso-Touch 3D which uses the RQ12, which is relatively hard to find, esp. when the model first came out.
It's good to a point.
Condition your face with warm water and soap or shaving cream/gel before using.
Otherwise, the tough facial hair WILL SHORTEN the life of the shaving head.
Norelco recommends 1 year replacement but I had to replace mine within 6 months! OUCH!
It will NOT shave hair that's flat to the surface of your skin so you better have a a manual razor available to finish off your shave!
The trimmer works relatively well but remember to use a manual razor and a manual clipper as well.
Pros: convenient
Cons: expensive, hard to find in many locations

Verified Purchase:Yes
Product is much noisier than I would expect--I have older Phillips product and it is half as loud as the new one--also old product gave me an extra set of blades at purchase.

Midway through your shave, the screen pops off and you get whiskers all over.

Best electric razor ever
on July 10, 2011

I have used electric razors for the past 20 years on and off with regular razors.
This is the quickest and smoothest razor I have ever used.
I use it with shaving cream and there is no pull or pinching.
I would recommend this to a friend!
