Great Design - Blades not
on May 14, 2012

Love the design and feel of this new razor but the blades have gone dull in two months. Have a heavier than average beard. Maybe the blades should come in different levels depending on beard. Heavy, average and light. Too expense to continue to buy new blades at this pace.
Pros: design and feel
Cons: blades do not last

Why the all metal replacement head look.

I have a SensoTouch 3D Razor that I am extremely happy with. I have gotten many comments on the beauty of the style of the razor. I received replacement blades today and was quite disappointed with the all silver head look. The contrast of the black and silver of the original razor head is what set it apart from every other design brand on the market. I'm sure these new blades will give another year of great shaves but the men in the locker room will think it is just another bland razor brand. Come on. Don't be so cheap. Get back to the great black and silver replacement head look.

Poor Quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The replacement heads seem to go dull almost immediately. I clean them properly every day and use the cleaning accessory to clean them when I charge the razor. For the money I paid for this I would have thought the replacement heads would have worked just as well as the originals.
Cons: poor shaving takes longer to shave properly, heads do not stay sharp very long

Do not like the replacement head that you have to take apart. When I put it back together after cleaning it falls apart continuously. Would prefer to be able to buy the whole head replacement.
Pros: originally loved the shaver
Cons: the replacemnet heads keep falling apart.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good performance

My original head needed replacement for the third time but found out at the store Philips discontinued the original design and came up with a new one.
Purchased it and gave it a try. First impression was the noise. A bit noisier than original head but felt smoother on the skin.
The chamber inside is bigger and can hold more hairs. I found that head performance was great. Seemed to actually cut quicker. Maybe my last head was really gone but this new one cut great.
Easy to take apart, clean and put back together.
One problem I found was when I decided to pack it for travel. I have a travel case that also doubles as a charger but when I tried to put the shaver inside, it was impossible due to the shaver head being bigger. You have to take the head off and pack it separately. Philips provides a plastic shield you can slide the head in but this cannot go in the shaver travel case.
Overall this new head shave's well and I like the range of motion, easily matching your face.
Pros: great shave
Cons: does not fit in existing travel case, price

SensoTouch 3D

Everyone's comments here are valid. This was the best razor ever but Norelco abandoned its loyal customers. The RQ12PRO replacements were garbage and like others, I am using my old ones since I can't get new ones. I don't want a new shaver that is not immersible and so easy to clean as the SensoTouch 3D. Norelco should be ashamed to lose otherwise loyal customers, clearly they don't care anymore.

Gave up on Norelco after decades
on September 2, 2016

Norelco has rejected this review four times. Maybe it will work this time.
I've used Norelco shavers for decades, but I switched to a blade razor after using these replacement heads. The shave I got with this replacement head was great for a couple of months, but then got worse and worse. My skin was irritated and the shave wasn't close at all. I had to give up on the replacement after about 4-5 months.
On top of that, the replacement heads are expensive -- more than I'll pay for a year's worth of blades. And that's without having to buy a Norelco shaver/motor. Now I'm getting a better, closer shave with less irritation for less money.
Do yourself a favor and find another option.
Pros: none that i can see
Cons: expensive, bad shave, irritates skin badly
