Seems to jam frequently using 1/2” stainless steel staples

Will fire 4 staples ok the nothing for about two shots and then produce a bundle of 2-3 mangled staples stuck in the end.
Is it the fact they are stainless ( too stiff ?).
Shooting into cedar fence boards .. pretty soft wood .
Thoughts?
