[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This 6100 btu unit cools a bedroom with ease. The installation was simple and, with the low profle, it doesn't block the view. It's keeps that one person cold at night without freezing the rest of us. So far we love it!
Just doesn’t cool anymore. Second summer? Really?!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We want to help you with your air conditioner's cooling performance. We recommend cleaning the air filters of your unit by following the instructions in page 7 of the owner's manual here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--NWYTBB8V--/d8c3wpcnhwoqw5msuavb.pdf

This is my second AC unit from GE Appliances. It has a lower BTU than my first one, due to room size. It does cool the room fast. The installation was a breeze. It is also quiet. I would recommend it to anyone.
As my first window unit, I am happy I decided on this particular model and brand. Not only was the video for installation very straightforward, but having the ability to operate the unit through the app and on a scheduled timer makes the system that much cooler (figuratively and literally). Also, little to no noise from the unit so I can sleep easy with it on all night. Lastly, the added perk of viewing how much energy was used for each night is also a major plus.
I have bought 3 different so called "quiet" air conditioner and this is the only one that is actually quiet. I work from home and on calks with clients they can hear the other air conditioner so I would have to turn it on and offso my clients can hear me. Now I am cool and my clients aren't struggling to hear me.
Does not cool and makes a lot of noise. I'm elderly and cannot afford to get another one, would be great if you could replace it with one that actually works

We'd like to help out with your air conditioner not cooling and go over the sound level.
We recommend checking to see if any gaps or holes are present around the installation, allowing air to escape. You will also want to make sure nothing is obstructing the front of the unit. When the unit is blocked by curtains, blinds or furniture, air flow is restricted and the cooling performance will be affected. You can view this article for additional troubleshooting: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=18860
In regards to the sound, you will want to make sure the unit is completely stable within the window seal and that the air filter is clean. You can also remove the subspace plug to reduce water sounds. You can find more information on page 17 inside the user manual here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--JVWHYlgj--/d8c3wpcnhwoqw5msuavb.pdf
It definitely takes 2 people to install it correctly, but with the material that comes with it and directions we got it installed and it sealed up very well… so it is super quiet! We love it!
