Still a noisy ac. Better than most I guess. Nice on “quiet “ and “eco”. For the price it could possibly have a quieter compressor and water pump.

Works really well. It feels like the North Pole in my son’s room which is exactly how he likes it. It’s really heavy and took 3 of us to get it in the window. Like the fact that once it’s in it’s not going to fall out.

So close to being excellent, but not quite there

I really want to love this AC, but there are too many fundamental flaws to make that happen. The good news is that once it's properly installed it does function exceptionally well, but oh wow is installation an absolute nightmare. What GE doesn't tell you is that this doesn't really work with replacement vinyl windows OR houses with vinyl siding, which is of course the majority of middle-class American homes. Let's start with the weight. This AC is inexplicably heavy, like 70+ pounds! For such relatively low BTUs, that's very heavy. So right away you need two people to install it. Then, unless your window opening and window sill are essentially flat and at the same level, the unit immediately wants to fall outside the house as most of the weight is in the exterior portion. I tried to follow the instructions and use the adjustable screws in the back to hold it in place, but with my windows these screws touched the bottom edge of the window flashing and could never make good contact no matter how far extended they were. The weight just pushed the vinyl siding in and there was never enough support to hold the unit. Thankfully a family member is very creative and handy and with his help we were able to fabricate custom brackets that allowed the unit to set level in the window and gave the screws in the back some solid wood to tighten against. With these custom brackets we were able to install the unit with relative ease and it is very securely installed. So, all is well that ends well I suppose, but shame on GE for not disclosing these limitations, especially for the most expensive window ACs on that market! Also, another flaw is with the WiFi setup. The instructions provided are simply incorrect. I had to find another customer review on another website that had correct instructions. Bizarrely, you have to unplug the unit, wait, plug it back in and immediately press the WiFi button repeatedly for it to properly enter connection mode. The whole things screams of over-engineering. It's a great idea and it really is very quiet. I also like that it blows the air up instead of out. It just misses the mark a bit.

Great Air Conditioner

Great air conditioner, however the touch buttons to change mode have gotten harder and harder to press to change modes. That leaves using the remote, which only cycles through the available modes. So you need to memorize the order of Cool, Fan, Eco, Dry and be able to see the indicating dot from across the room to see where it’s at. But definitely an efficient air conditioner.
