great purchase

I purchased this to replace the shredder that died in my office. We typically shred 150-200 sheets/envelopes per day and the old owner went through 2 shredders in 2 years. This product is much more powerful, quiet, and feels like it is of much higher quality than the brand that it is replacing. So far great product!

Shredding in our office was not a fun thing. We stood in line or just dumped the papers on top for the next person to shred. Then came the new shredder. WOW, I am amazed at the difference in the stress level. The shredder is quiet, and with it's own pleasant sound. Hasn't jammed yet and shreds so easily.

Excellent decision

Being a sheriff, I budgeted two (2) shredders in the FY '08-'09 budget. These "commercial" shredders were purchased from a locally owned office supply business, who we had and continue to do business with.
Within months, both developed problems. One with a motor and the other with the cutters. The business would not stand behind these shredders and as a result, I refused to purchase anymore shredders from them, for the office. The local business also knew I was unhappy with their lack of service and support on the shredders.
When I researched the SB-99Ci and the excellent warranty, I gave in and purchased one (1) unit, as a trial.
This unit is in my office and I along with my office manager are very pleased with its performance and the warranty that came with it.
It is my intention to purchase another one in the near future for the office.

Does what it says

It works. Plan and simple. It's well constructed, and performs as advertised. Catch bin is large. I have one constructive criticism and one feature request.
The criticism is that the side pocket can be knocked off too easily. Not a big deal, but would be nice if, when you connected it, it stayed.
The featre request is that we have an optional catch pocket we could temporarily put inside to catch DVD/CD/Credit Card shredded pieces. This way it would be easier to keep things separated for recycling purposes.
But, all in all, very glad with purchase. Thank you Fellowes.

Best bet for the price

I wanted a model that could shred 25 sheets, but didn't want to spend the extra money. Seems to handle the amount it says it will.

Careful removing filled bag

The SB-99Ci does a good job of grinding up paper, regular staples and CDs which is why you buy the thing to start with. 17 pages pushes the limit but it does work well for personal use. The “jam proof” feature works. Problem is the disposal system needs improvement. As you grind away a large ball of shredded material accumulates under the cutting mechanism and the red light comes on and the machine stops. You open the drawer and clear the machine by pushing the cut up material to the bottom. You do this several times and the bag becomes filled. Then, when you start to pull out the bag full of shredded material it gets a large rip in the side of the bag, Turns out the little window they provide on the side of the machine to let you see when it is full protrudes into the basket and has a sharp edge which snags the bag into which you have pushed the ground up paper. Remedy is to change the bag more often and not to compact the waste too much.
