JUNK! several issues right out of the box

I've had several Fellowes shredders over the years but this one is just not functional. Isues are, first, it runs continuously. will not stop for any reason other than powering off, overheating or safety switch activation. Second, will shut down after only 2 to 3 minutes of running with the overheating light illuminated and will not turn back on for at least 20 minutes. Third, the safety switch is so tight that a single sheet of paper will not feed through. I need to use at least 5 sheets to make it stiff enough to feed in. Fourth, when I do use 5 sheets of paper the overfeed safety activates shutting the shredder off. The overfeed lights start off 1 level away from overfeed and shutdown. Very useful! I can get more accomplished with a good pair of scissors.

GREAT SHREDDER

I have several Fellowes Shredders and they always live up to my expectations. I have had others in the past that I was dissatisfied with but the FELLOWES beats them all hands down. It is fairly quiet and jam proof so far. Shreds everything I have put through it so far. I really like the Shredder very much. My son purchased my first one for me and told me it was the best. He has several also. I found it to be excellent.
Pros: Jam Resistance, Quiet Operation, Secure Cut Size, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs

Unacceptable bin

The machine is excellent and of top quality except the bin. Although the bin door is plastic, the bin itself is cardboard. Yes, I said cardboard. This design is beneath the name & reputation of Fellowes. It's like buying a Ferrari car that comes with wooden wheels of a Stagecoach.

Unopened Junk Mail!

Exactly what I needed! I want to shred junk mail without opening it. It chewed it up like it was nothing! It was much quieter than the one I replaced, which had died.

But for the paper basket and plug

This purchase was a replacement of one I owned since 2007. The new one works quieter and is equally as efficient; however, the paper basket is made of plastic corrugated. While lighter it does not push in as nicely as the old one. I chose to insert and use the old basket and it works perfectly. In my opinion, the manufacturer got cheap. Additionally, I like the old electrical cord that could be disconnected at the shredder not only at the plug. The new one is permanently connected to the shredder requiring one to crawl under desks to plug and unplug.

So Far So Good

So far, it is great, I just received it, but our HR loves theirs so I have high hopes. I was afraid when I opened it, it was going to be to big, but it fits perfectly with room to spare. I am excited to put it through the paces.
