This is my second Tempur-pedic mattress topper. I also purchased a new, firm mattress set at the same time. I expected the same density as the first topper I owned, but it was of lesser quality. The foam compresses too much and it makes my hip hurt where it presses against the firm mattress. As long as I sleep on my back (not my favorite position) it is fine, but cannot turn on either side. It is also about 4 inches shorter than my standard mattress. I also wish they would offer sheets that fit the topper itself (OR) would cover the topper plus the mattress. I hate the wrinkles in the fitted sheet I try to tuck around the topper. PS: the odor did dissipate over time.
Pros: Comfortable, Holds Shape, Soft Feel
Cons: Compressives Too Much, Too short
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have been sleeping on Tempurpedic for years. Before all the Big Box had them, when they were only available thru small stores. We love them, have 2 Kings, 2 Queen, 2 Doubles, and 3" Toppers for kids college beds.
Pros: Comfortable

as a combat wounded retired marine, ive slept in the worst places imaginable to man. but now that im retired and suffering from severe back injuries; i thought my days of a good nights sleep were unachieveable. that was until i tried the tempurpedic bed topper and pillow. the first night i slept longer and more soundly than i had in a decade. i was so over joyed that i gave the topper to my daughter and purchased a tempurpedic mattress. not only did i achieve the unthinkable; a great nights sleep,but my daughter said it was the best gift ive ever given her. thank you tempurpedic..and a resounding"SEMPER FI"(always faithful)..to tempurpedic mattresses..R/S mario opromollo USMC/DAV/MOPH/RET.

I have been asked several time to look at cheaper alternative by friends and family but time and again tempurpedic is a worthwhile investment. There is no back pressure from the topper yet it provides great support. In my experience Tempur pillows works the best on this topper so I have contoured pillows. At present this is used on my son's day bed. We will cut it to size in some time and use all the pieces for something such as cushion on bench etc.

Best Sleep ever if you can stand the smell

Purchased a 3" topper. We unpacked it and let it set for 3 days and expand and air out before we put it on the bed. My wife is the one that wanted the bed so I did not put a lot of faith in it. I must say we both are getting a great sleep now. The smell is pretty bad and I highly suggest you try and get a sense of this before taking the trouble to buy it and lug it all the way home. I would think It would be very difficult to compress the mattress to put it back in the box after it has been opened. We have had the mattress for two weeks and it still smells. The mattress must really work for people to buy something like this that has an offensive odor for a long period of time.
