Disappointed

I bought the Broil King Signet a year and a half ago. I really love the BBQ but unfortunately the cast iron grills are not very good. They have already rusted completely. I have tried to maintain them but unfortunately it has not worked. Disappointed as otherwise the BBQ would be great.

I highly recommend not purchasing these unless you want to replace them every year. They very quickly rust with their covering peeling off.

My grill rusted almost immediately. I season after every use and still…. If I had seen these grill reviews when buying a BBQ - I would have gone with a different company. To bad the stainless steel replacements are twice the price. When will Broil King source new grills/iron?

Disappointing

So disappointing. All internal parts are super rusted. Inside the bbq, i dont mind as much since it doesnt touch the food but these grills... they are the second pair we purchase and they dont last. Even after storing them indoors for the winter. Now having to either purchase new pieces and grills will cost half a new bbq.

Signet Cast Iron Cooking Grids

I believe they are covered by warranty, but I wonder if the only option is replacement with the same grids? Have any improvements been made? The grids are too corroded and rusted to be used to safely cook food on.

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear about the rust you're experiencing but I do hope we can help. We have switched the manufacturing process of our cast iron cooking grids in recent years, including sourcing new iron and modifying the porcelain coating. As with any cast iron, we still recommend seasoning them with every use to keep them lasting for years to come. To obtain cast iron cooking grids under warranty, please call our knowledgeable Customer Support Team at 1-800-265-2150.

Best grill I've ever owned

My grids just had one of the ends crack off... I was refinishing at the time with a wire brush... These grids have lasted *over seven years*. Those of you who say they rust and crack, I'm sorry, you're not treating your cast iron right. I'm not convinced some of those "crack" picture aren't actually build up of over-seasoning and oils.
These grids and grills are exceptional. Seeing all the bad reviews, I had to post something positive. Yes, grids will rust if you leave them outdoors (even in the grill). They will crack if you apply too much heat. Broil King grills are *absolutely* able to get that hot. You need to season ay grate on BOTH sides after use (which even I don't do.) I refinish cast iron pans for a fun hobby when people ruin them, so I have an extremely good idea of what's involved. I know I could treat my grill grids better, but hey, they live outside, and eventually (after 7-10 years) they need replacing.
My cast iron pans will probably last over a century. Why? I don't heat them to 400°C, burn off the seasoning every time I use them, then season one half and throw them outside for storage. So yeah.. grill grids gonna wear out, but not quickly.

My bbq is stored inside during the winter, and is always under a cover when not in use during the summer, however within 2 years the grates have completely rusted. I can't even cook on the bbq anymore
