It did take some work. Watched the video and read directions a couple of times. Make sure it is a wet sand and go 5 minutes on all sanding steps. I saw a video of a home remedy for the headlight restore and he even dipped the sand paper in water. It needs to be that wet. Before you apply the clear coat, have a plan on exactly how your putting on the product to get an even slightly overlapping application. When I used my headlights, I could not believe the difference in how bright my lights were.

Fantastic results with a bit of elbow grease

I just finished my 19 year old BMW 330Ci. The headlamps were a mess due to a previous attempt by a rank amateur to fix the yellowing lenses with unevenly applied clear spray paint. Using the Sylvania kit it took quite a bit of work to remove the paint and the old yellowed coating, but eventually they came clean. It's a bit scary doing the sanding because between and after each polishing coat the lenses are pretty hazy and opaque. However, after applying the final step, the lenses became miraculously clear, looking virtually like new. I am totally impressed. I can't help but believe that the folks giving bad reviews didn't follow the instructions carefully and completely. This is a great product.

Works great! I was skeptical until I tried this kit. Do drape and tape your car, you don't want to get the activator or clearcoat chems on the paint. Clearcoat carefully in one swipe for streak-free.

Great kit, but be careful with clear coat

I read several sets of instructions and watched the video a couple of times to make sure I did it right. Elbow grease is necessary, and I set a timer on my watch to make sure I really sanded for a full 5 minutes on my very old headlights. Unfortunately, I didn't do a great job with the clear coat (I missed a spot and when I tried to go back, it messed up the whole area), and I think I'd have to start from scratch again to fix it. I tossed the sandpaper, and the way the clay compound is packaged makes it difficult to save any, though there is plenty of activator and clear coat left. It is a great kit, but I think they could stress even more that the clear coat dries quickly and maybe offer ideas if you mess it up (if I had waited until it cured, could I have touched up the spots I missed? But I'd absolutely recommend it and would buy again.

I am no DIY guy. I joke "a screwdriver in my hand is something one sips." So I ordered the Sylvania HRK after watching several online videos of 5 or 6 products. Note. I have no skin in this game except I wanted something that looked relatively simple to do. For instance, I do not own a drill, so I would be using elbow grease with the 3 different levels of sand paper. So, I followed the instructions very carefully, am thrilled with the results. An extremely foggy lens on my 2004 Lincoln Town Car is looking brand new, and if you know Lincolns, that lens is long and curves. I only did one, driver's side lens, as the passenger side is not nearly as foggy. But I will do the other one soon. I'm extremely satisfied with this product.

I bought a scrap yard headlight and it was faded and pitted so I bought this kit and it was easy to use and it turned out great, I did not use the 450 grit sand paper but I did used the 1000 grit and then went to the 2000 . I did everything according to the instructions except the 450 grit sand paper. I turned out great and looks new again.
