Finally bit the bullet and got a Dyson v15 detect. I have looked at them for over a year and debated whether it was worth the money. After using it the first time I put the corded vacuum away and moved my old battery vacuum in the basement. The Dyson does better than the corded vac and is so much easier, not having to deal with the cord, but still do the job providing plenty of suction.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We purchased this vacuum on recommendation of our son-in-law who has been using this model for about a year. We are rhrilled with the results! We have lots of hard surface flooring on our main floor and the green light particle detector is a game changer. I had no idea there are so many specs of dirt on a seemingly clean floor! Our 2nd floor is primarily carpet and the carpet head cleans and gets deep. I have also used the soft dusting brush for larger flat surfaces and the stiff bruch for the pesky cold air returns. All work very well just ditching the long tube and going hand-held.

I am really enjoying my new Dyson. I was using a 35 year old vacuum on my rugs and just a broom and swiffer on my wood floors and my Dyson does it all much, much more effectively and efficiently. So far, I am extremely happy with my purchase of the Dyson.
