I purchased this to replace a much more expensive, but poorly functioning printer of another brand. I can't believe I waited as long as I did, as the 6978 works light years better than the competing brand's printer. In addition, the setup was simple even for a luddite such as me. Thanks for your excellent engineering.

The printer is good. The installation was not. Having to download an app just to hook up a simple printer was rather idiotic, in my opinion, and it didn't work properly anyway. After spending an inordinate amount of time downloading and re-downloading the software and the app, I finally just did it manually and got it to work. And it seems to want to set up as a wireless printer all the time even though it is a wire printer. Irritating, but a decent printer.
Cons: More RAM, Smoother Mouse Pad

Having issues. Paper jams frequently. Quite noisy. Already have ink cartridge, brand new, that doesn't work. No is sending a replacemen. Have had HP printers since 1995 and this is the first r st one I an not fully pleased with.

I bought this to replace same model (that I damaged). The first one worked SOOOO good that when I damaged it while trying to clean it, I just call HP and bought the same model. This printer combined with the Instant Ink program just can't be beat !!!!

I replaced the 8730 I had with this one. It is smaller which is better and does as much as the other one. But beware in order to scan from the printer you need to download the printer software not just the Smaet App.
