One of the best sets ever!!

I always wanted this set, and to my surprise Lego re-issued it! I stayed up on november 27th to get it, and bought it as an early Christmas present.
I build this set during the Christmas holidays.
There is a fair amount of repetition in building this set, which is logical, because the Taj Mahal is a symmetrical building. So the repetition didn't bother me so much. It was also helpfull: you don't need so much space, because you can build the different parts first, and put them together later.
And now it is finished, and it looks great. It is a big set, just like the large version of Sydney Opera house from a few years ago (but that one was more challenging).
I hope Lego will re-issue more great sets from the past.

This set took me a little over 17 hours spread over 3 days, and the finished result is something I am proud to display. The level of detail in the main central build is very intricate, although it gets a little tedious repeating each module 4 times over. I found it quite difficult to get the outer base layer to come together with all the Technic pins and holes, but once together it holds. The dome is very well sculpted and probably my favorite section of the model. My only complaint is the wobbly design of the four surrounding towers. I'm not worried that they will fall apart, but the minimal amount of parts used leaves them trembling with the slightest movement and makes them look like they're often crooked. Besides this, the model is a sight to behold and I'm very glad I was able to get this after missing out the first time around.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I’m an avid collector of the Creator Expert line. This is definitely one of the better set. It is extremely detailed and displays amazingly. I love that it can be taken apart into pieces for easy transportation.
The biggest flaw is that it has way too much repetition. Basically you could almost cut it into four equal parts.
But this is definitely one of the best sets that I have bought.

I was stoked when it appeared back on the market, and my wife gave it to me for Xmas. It looks fantastic and really realistic. The structure for the top dome is very well thought. A bit of repetitiveness but its usually a big part you need to build 4 times as it is very symetrical. Loved building it, love to look at it, it’s a stunner for anyone to see.

I missed buying this when it first came out and remember reading about Sting and his son building it when he was on tour. I was sure I'd never get a chance to buy it and then LEGO reissued this beautiful set. I was in line when my local LEGO store opened on November 3 and was very happy to carry it out to my car. It's designed in modules: six at the base, eight for the mausoleum, and then the dome. That makes for a sensible build and it can be disassembled if necessary. There is a bit of tedium, since the architecture of the Taj is all about symmetry. The modules can get repetative, but the plus side is you learn a few tricks as you progress. The engineering of the roof and interior of the dome is brilliant and structurally sound. My 10-year-old grandson helped me at several points and it wasn't beyond his abilities.
The only thing I didn't particularly like when I was done was the "knobbiness" of the dome and the domes of the four chhatris. So I went to Bricks and Pieces and ordered 1x1 and 1x2 tiles and 1x1x2/3 roof tiles to go over all the knobs. I think it cleans up the final product.
Anyway, fun build and a very impressive piece that draws the admiration and comment of everyone who sees it, especially those who have been to Agra.

The best set ever

First I would like to start off by saying that people who think children would have no time for this you are wrong I'm between 14 - 18 and this is the most intreguing set I have ever built.
Secondly this is probably the most ornately designed piece of lego from the detail of the small turrets to the detail of the main centre their is room for the hole family to get involved in certain areas such as bags 5-8 as this is a very repatitive section. All in all this is well worth the money but if you are looking for replay ability maybe look else where this is for an expert lego builder

I stayed up all night just to buy this one! i was lucky enough to buy one as soon as lego updated there page bought it The box is huge!!! I love it this is a real lego set here As you open the box there are two white boxes inside which really add weight to the box inside there are baseplates and numbered bags the instruction booklet even comes sealed in a bag the build is very easy to follow and the colors of the pieces are beautiful classic lego white Highly recommend my favorite part of the build was the top middle piece Had a blast building it however a word to lego please release highly sought after sets that were available in the past I also bought this set to support the idea of releasing sets exclusively from the lego vault a two thumbs up
