Great overall, but...

I think that visually, this is a stunning and exceptional set.
There are a lot of tedious and repetitive building steps that are a result of what is being built (the Taj is supposed to be completely symmetrical) and most of it is built in 'quadruplicate.'
There were two things that bothered me about the design, however. One is the structural integrity of the base (the outer terrace) didn't seem as well designed as it could have been. The six detachable segments aren't an issue if you have no need to ever move it, but do not hold up if you do. My other issue is that it appears a lack of understanding of the true architecture of the building. Anyone who has ever been to or studied it will know that it was created to be perfectly symmetrical, and while there is a limitation to what can be done with LEGO, the way the elements were situated in a few spots seems completely ignorant of this. It is correctable for an advanced builder, but just seems lazy, especially for such an otherwise intricate set.
But again, I will say that the final model (after my own fixes were made) is a beautiful and stunning piece.

My Partner got me this for my birthday massive surprise. Wanted this set for age's so pleased Lego re-released it. Didn't disappoint well worth the wait anyone who likes these types of kits would recommend to get.

The King of Building Sets

This was an AWESOME build. I purchased it, knowing that I really didn't have room to put it anywhere. Luckily, I was surprised to find that the center portion of the Taj Mahal can be removed, making it possible for me to display at least most of the model! The engineering, and the use of only standard bricks, was fascinating. Well done, Lego!

What an amazing set!! The level of detail is astounding, and the final product is dazzling. The build can be repetitive, but it is also enjoyable. Overall, Taj Mahal is a beautiful set that exceeds expectations!

The best set ever

First I would like to start off by saying that people who think children would have no time for this you are wrong I'm between 14 - 18 and this is the most intreguing set I have ever built.
Secondly this is probably the most ornately designed piece of lego from the detail of the small turrets to the detail of the main centre their is room for the hole family to get involved in certain areas such as bags 5-8 as this is a very repatitive section. All in all this is well worth the money but if you are looking for replay ability maybe look else where this is for an expert lego builder

Brilliant Building

Bought this as a Christmas present for myself & it kept my wife & I quiet for 4 days (only a few hours a day) after Christmas. Looks amazing but didn't realise how big it would be...just need to find somewhere to display it now. Sooo happy with it despite the large number of very small pieces which my hands didn't cope with that well.

The real masterpiece

Me and my brother spent 8 hours to finish this masterpiece. It's simply the best Lego we have ever seen. It is so beautiful that I can't even describe it. You gotta to buy this and build it by yourself. We hope to visit the real Taj Mahal in the future.

Phenomenal

This set took me a little over 17 hours spread over 3 days, and the finished result is something I am proud to display. The level of detail in the main central build is very intricate, although it gets a little tedious repeating each module 4 times over. I found it quite difficult to get the outer base layer to come together with all the Technic pins and holes, but once together it holds. The dome is very well sculpted and probably my favorite section of the model. My only complaint is the wobbly design of the four surrounding towers. I'm not worried that they will fall apart, but the minimal amount of parts used leaves them trembling with the slightest movement and makes them look like they're often crooked. Besides this, the model is a sight to behold and I'm very glad I was able to get this after missing out the first time around.
