Return of a Classic

I was beyond excited when seeing that Lego was re-releasing this set. Being the now second largest set ever released, I had been wanting to get my hands on it for years. The details on it are beyond gorgeous and it's definitely a show-stopper of any collection.
The overall building process is not very complicated, especially since it requires repeating mostly the same steps four times for each side. The repetitiveness of it, and the pain of stacking small studs for the widows are the only thing that prevented me from giving this set a 5/5. As a warning, the finger tips will be in pain if doing it all at once. There's still a good amount of challenge for expert builders, mainly with the set comprising mostly of white bricks. Pay close attention to the dome, it's easy to misplace pieces there.
It's a fun build, and with a lot of the steps repeating, it's a good one that a group of people can work on simultaneously. Thank you for bringing this one back, Lego. It's a crowd pleaser!

Seventh wonder of the Lego world

Great item, but some small issues. The four towers are very loose and a slight bump or movement will cause them to come apart or fall. The other issue is the four large openings. The grey bricks surrounding the openings are also loose and will not stay in place while putting this item together. Moving this item from the assemble area to my display table was also a project in its own right. The center hall is easally moved, but the four lower outer walls cannot be transported without separating them. Besides all that, the cost was worth it. This is a display piece not a play piece.

Amazing!

Extremely pleased with this; I got this as a Christmas present and it was definitely worth building. It's quite big to look at and the detail is brilliant. Even though it had several repetitive stages, it certainly put my patience to the test. It still looks phenomenal! At 16 years old, I just can't stop building Lego! Love it. This is actually the second biggest Lego model I own, in terms of pieces, my biggest being the UCS Milliennium Falcon, which I still have yet to build! The Lego team have done really well with this! My next review will probably be for the UCS Millennium Falcon!

Stunning, Beautiful and Legendary

I was so excited when I saw that the Taj Mahal set was being re released as I never had the chance to get the original of this legendary set, up until the 2017 Millennium Falcon was released this was the largest Lego set ever made, so I knew I had to buy this and have it in my collection!
Firstly this is not a 'new' set, it is a re release of the old creator Taj Mahal and from the research I've done there isn't anything different about the two other than the box art and a couple of sections in the building process are in a different order, so if you're like me and don't have the original then I strongly recommend you buy this, but if you have the old one then there isn't really much point in getting this one, especially at the price it's at.
This set took me 3 days to build and it was pretty full on but still enjoyable at the same time, the vast majority of the build was repeated 4 times as it has to be cemetrical. The build isn't overly difficult for adults or older kids but young kids will probably need help from a parent. Even though a lot of the build is repetitive it doesn't get boring at any point and you really feel like you've accomplished something once it's complete as the end product is truly magnificent!
I was shocked at how huge the finished model is, it is absolutely beautiful and has a real presence in a room, it is definitely a set I would 100% recommend as it is a fantastic addition to anyone's collection and is a beautiful Lego construction of one of the 7 wonders of the world!
Easily a 5/5!

My best personal gift

I've wanted this lego for years but when I was going to get it it was retired. So finally they re released it so I jumped to buy it and was up at 4am the day it came out but I was put on backorder since so many people wanted it. The build itself is difficult but the instructions are very very good and you don't have a million parts at a time on the go making it easier to find the parts you need. The Taj Mahal build is great and it looks amazing!!! Completely worth me being up really early to buy and spend that money.

Beautiful and Fun to Build
on December 4, 2017

I have wanted this set for a few years but I never thought I would actually own it one day. It is everything I was hoping for and more. The building looks beautiful and it is a perfect size, large enough to admire the detail but not too big where you can't find a place to display it. I think it looks so much nicer than in the pictures too. The instructions are very easy to follow and pretty short since many of the groups of steps are for 2 or 4 copies of the same part of the building (4 columns, 4 sides, 4 corners, etc.). I would recommend this set to anyone. It has become my favorite LEGO set.

Bringing more sets out of the closet

This set is an exceptional build. I’m glad LEGO has decided to pull this set out of mothballs, I would love to see them pull some more out and do reissues of the Green Grocer or Cafe Corner or any of the early modular buildings.
