WORST SET EVER!!

WOW, I really don't know how this set has so many high reviews, yes its big and looks very well, but with that size comes flimsy and god awful design. It's so fragile and does not hold together well, all 4 tops of my towers refused to stay clutched on, the bases are super fragile, too few technic pins, out of the hundred Lego sets this by far is the worst set I've ever bought! And I've bought so crap sets over the years, this is boring, tedious and a chore to put together. I'm not a blind Lego fanboy who's swooning over this just because its big.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there! Thanks for a great review! This set was recreated from the first design 10 years ago and if built on a flat hard surface will be very stable. We would recommend rebuilding the smaller towers to ensure that the bricks are clicking together so that your Taj Mahal can stand tall.

Great build plus my additional extra

Good solid challenging build, added lights to it using copper wire lights that just squeeze between the bricks, found the towers amusingly wobbly, the way it's built is clever in a modular style.
I would recommend this to a friend!

One word... Impressive.. and that doesn’t even begin to explain how amazing this building is. My husband was absolutely enthralled by it (he’s 35) and he only let our eldest son help build it. It looks completely authentic once completed and dare I say it doesn’t really look like Lego. An iconic building has received a fantastic rendering in this set and is a must buy for any Lego fan.

Great item, but some small issues. The four towers are very loose and a slight bump or movement will cause them to come apart or fall. The other issue is the four large openings. The grey bricks surrounding the openings are also loose and will not stay in place while putting this item together. Moving this item from the assemble area to my display table was also a project in its own right. The center hall is easally moved, but the four lower outer walls cannot be transported without separating them. Besides all that, the cost was worth it. This is a display piece not a play piece.

This is the worst set I've ever built! It is expensive, and unstable. The base pieces don't fit together well, and the structure is rickety at best. It is so bad, I've decided to give up on Legos and never, ever buy a set again!

Great Display and Build

The Taj Mahal building process took a lot less time to build than I thought. The Ghostbusters head quarters took about 14 hours and the Taj is over 1000 more but yet I completed in the same amount of time. This thing is really repetitive but it's well worth the patience. Although the bags 5,6,7.8 get annoying doing the same thing 4 times. I actually swapped back and forth, such as doing bag 5, then one from bag 9 and 10 (the sides of the mausoleum) to bag 6, back to bag 9, back to 7. Although still repetitive, it makes it seem a little less repetitive if you do it that way. the set is about 90% repetitiveness, the only part that is not repetitive really is in the square base. (Bags 1 and 2) are nearly identical in repetitiveness, but the stairs stick out more, Bag 4 has the 4 minarets and that build goes quick. Also parts of building the roof were not the same over and over. Over all, the sets displays great and it is a eye catcher. I would recommend this product as its features are quite detailed and nice to see it on shelves again.

Amazing!

Extremely pleased with this; I got this as a Christmas present and it was definitely worth building. It's quite big to look at and the detail is brilliant. Even though it had several repetitive stages, it certainly put my patience to the test. It still looks phenomenal! At 16 years old, I just can't stop building Lego! Love it. This is actually the second biggest Lego model I own, in terms of pieces, my biggest being the UCS Milliennium Falcon, which I still have yet to build! The Lego team have done really well with this! My next review will probably be for the UCS Millennium Falcon!

best lego set ever

My family members pitched in to help me build this set. This is the biggest lego set I have ever had and I really loved it. It took me about 4 1/2 days to complete. When I was finished I put it on my shelf and put a bunch of lego characters on it.
