A Beautiful Set,Boring Build, A Satisfied Customer

Its great that Lego listened and brought back this set that so many people wanted. It looks amazing and is a physically big set and good show piece. It is a relatively boring build though, lots of repetition and standard techniques (although seeing as this is a copy of the 2008 version they may have been new then). The reputation is more down to the fact this is a model of a real building which is symmetrical, so I don’t think that is a knock against Lego.
Obviously, lots of white but the instructions keep it clear. People have complained about building the windows out of 1x1 plates, while that is annoying it gives the windows a much closer look to the real buildings windows so its worth the hassle.
While the build wasn’t particularly exciting, seeing the structure grown to completion was very enjoyable and the over all the product is 100% worth it. If you like buildings and can get this set you should, you won’t be disappointed, its an eye catcher.
I would recommend this to a friend!

One of the best sets ever!!

I always wanted this set, and to my surprise Lego re-issued it! I stayed up on november 27th to get it, and bought it as an early Christmas present.
I build this set during the Christmas holidays.
There is a fair amount of repetition in building this set, which is logical, because the Taj Mahal is a symmetrical building. So the repetition didn't bother me so much. It was also helpfull: you don't need so much space, because you can build the different parts first, and put them together later.
And now it is finished, and it looks great. It is a big set, just like the large version of Sydney Opera house from a few years ago (but that one was more challenging).
I hope Lego will re-issue more great sets from the past.

The 10256 Lego Taj Mahal is an incredible build. There is a lot of repetition, but it is needed. I love the details in the center of the set including the many archways. As shown in my pictures, this set is built in many sections and therefore is very maneuverable. This is a plus for me because I built movable shelves and like to change it up once in a while.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The set is not hard to build due to symmetry. Thank Lego for selling it again! It is definitely a must have. It is so so beautiful. More beautiful than shown in the picture.

Repetitive

It's a good-looking model when finished, but the most boring one to build that I've done so far.
The problem is that the Taj Mahal is a four-way symmetrical building, so the whole build is very repetitive. You build one section and then repeat it at least 2, 3 or 4 times.
Difficult to recommend
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is a showpiece. It takes over a room. It was a little hard on my fingers but otherwise not too taxing. Definately for older builders - children would not have the skill or patience for this Lego masterpiece. I love it.
