Gets and stays really cold, be careful not to scratch the inside of the mug up though. Has a noise that isn't too loud when churning. Super cute though.

No spontaneous ice cream.

As soon as I was reading the manual and saw that it needed to be placed in the freezer for "best results" I knew this was like any other old fashioned freezer ice cream maker. The only thing automated about it is the motor. On the bright side, if you can see yourself using this often, your mug will be living in the freezer. It claims to make up to a pint of ice cream but the inner cup looks shallow. We will see. I am writing this review as I have unboxed it for my own personal use. I am following all instructions like it says to avoid any bias or error. It states that the machine works best the first 20 minutes of operation. Does the mug really need 24 hours to freeze? I'm sure after that long anything would turn to ice cream.4 stars for not making it clear on the outside of the box that the freezer mug does not have a cooling feature (as suspected) and that it needs to be left to freeze overnight. No spontaneous ice cream.I tried a recipe with some mixed berries in but can't update my review until it is done. If I am blown away I will upgrade to a 5

This machine works great for being such a little thing. It does take some experimenting to get things just right, but it is well worth it. Love being able to make ice cream in small batches so I can change up the flavors more often. Works really well and not difficult to clean.
