I wanted to love it, but..

I wanted to love this vacuum, but I don’t. The handle hurts my hand, which would be fine. I’m sure I will adjust to it eventually. However, what disappoints me is the battery life. It says up to 40 mins, but I get less than 20 mins of use, which isn’t nearly enough time to vacuum my first floor let alone my whole house.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We know that battery run time is a very important aspect of performance for our owners, so we developed a trigger that helps maximize the amount of time you can clean on one charge. We chose a light-touch trigger over an on/off switch to ensure that battery life is never wasted by letting the machine run when it's not in active use.
Your machine offers two suction modes, regular and MAX. MAX power provides a generous boost of suction, to clean larger debris or more stubborn messes. The trade-off for this boost of suction, is less run time; about 7 minutes or so. Regular power will give you up to 30-40 minutes of run time, depending on if you're using one of your motorized tools. We would like to ensure that your vacuum is performing as intended. great vacuum, mostly...

This vacuum works great but has missed this mark in three places. #1 needs a quick change second battery like a cordless power tool, #2 docking station needs improvement and should have a better connection for charging not just the existing power cord woven into it, #3 NEEDS an on switch not just the finger trigger. If it had these items it would be the best vacuum ever! its does however work great and is easy to clean just cant believe they missed these easy upgrades that would give the vacuum much better function.

I recently purchased the Dyson V8 Animal after wanting it for quite awhile. I am so happy I finally bought the Dyson. I already own a Dyson Animal upright for at least 12 years and love it. I also have 2 long haired cats, who like to shed. I like to be able to just pull out the Dyson V8 and be able to vacuum up the hair. It does just as good as my uprigh t Dyson.. Also it is so easy to change the attachments.

This is clearly the best handheld vacuum cleaner on the market. I am amazed how well it picks up dirt and dust. The battery life is sufficient and it is so easy to use. Great for quick and easy cleanup.

I finally broke down and bought a Dyson... and I LOVE it! Has the best suction of any vacuum I’ve ever had. So very impressed with its performance!!

Absolutely Love It ! It is extremely versatile and I have been using it on everything from the home, to the car and camping in the RV. The fact that it is cordless allows me to take it wherever I need with no problem at all – this one unit has taken the place of my 3 other Dyson vacuums that I had previously been using for each location. We have two long haired dogs that go with us everywhere - needless to say dog hair is always a problem. I am happy to say this vacuum picks up dog hair as well as my Dyson Animal Upright vacuum on both the hard floors as well as the carpeting. You get every attachment you could possibly need to for cleaning the entire Home, RV and vehicles. My favorite is the combination tool for the car – it us an all in one for cleaning the crevices as well as a dusting brush that just pulls down over it. I use the soft roller cleaning head to sweep my solid surface floors, i.e. hardwood, linoleum, ceramic tile, etc… I use the hard bristle cleaner head for the actual carpet vacuuming. I also very much like the fact that all of the attachments have a red part that clearly identifies where to push to attach/unattach the different heads. The fact that you can attach them to either the long extension tube if needed or directly to the vacuum itself makes it really nice! That helps me out a lot when doing the car, couches, stairs, tables, etc... Depending on how much “Deep Cleaning” I am doing, the vacuum battery lasts me about 30 minutes. I alternate when needed between both the normal mode and the max mode. I find that 80% of my cleaning can be accomplished on the normal mode. The battery time is greatly improved from the previous handheld models
The only recommendations I have going forward would be as follows:
1) A removable battery pack so that you always have one fully charged on standby and could change it out when needed
2) If at all possible have the most common attachments somehow attached to the unit itself so that they are easily accessible. -- The problem is the vacuum is so CONVENIENT and I am able to get things cleaned so much faster that I end up starting my cleaning downstairs, and before I know it, I am already upstairs before I realize I need a different attachment… I end up having to go all the way back downstairs…it would be nice to be able to just grab/store on the machine itself…
In summary, I would highly recommend the Dyson V8 Absolute!! I love the fact that I can get the same cleaning from an extremely convenient, lightweight, portable, cordless vacuum that I can get from my Dyson Uprights.
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! It is most certainly my favorite and now #1 go-to vacuum for everything!

At age 74 and having given up my cleaning person, I bought the Dyson V8. OMG! I love it!
I’ve become a clean freak with this lightweight machine… my new best friend. Think of me singing along with the noise while the dog goes berserk and the cats run for cover. The rugs are clean though. Happy Mamma! Thank you for this amazing product.
