Batteries not strong enough.

Have had a couple years and the battery doesn't run long enough
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you haven't found the battery life to be sufficient in your V8 Absolute. Your vacuum will come with standard and Max power modes. Our cordless models also have a run-time enhancing light touch trigger which ensures battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed. In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using.
Lithium-Ion batteries are subject to degradation over time. This is completely normal and occurs with any device that uses this type of battery. Battery degradation is not a fault of the machine. It happens to all batteries in everyday items, such as mobile phones and laptops. Unfortunately, we are unable to advise how long each component will last in each individual's home. Best product I've ever bought

Pros: cordless, easy to use, easy to store, so far it’s kept a charge long enough to vacuum my 2200 sq ft house. cons: it’s a bit heavy for me, there’s no way of knowing what attachment to use on carpet or on hardwood, have to hold the button down the whole time.

I have been lugging around my old upright for years attaching add ons and dragging it everywhere. I can't believe how convenient my Dyson is and how light and easy it is to use. I am truly blessed to have one now!!!

great machine

Such an improvement. I can now sweep my whole house and not have to recharge. The attachment for rugs is great as I have a labrador and he loses a lot of hair. The bare floor attachment is equally as great, as it really picks up all the dog hair and dust. In all I am highly satisfied with this sweeper, and I would recommend it to anyone. I have an older handheld that still works great, and I have given it to my neighbor, as she has admired it for a long time. It does not work as well as my new v8, but it is still a good sweeper

Hi Joshua, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that in your use thus far, you have found that the battery life is too short to vacuum your home with your V8 Absolute. Your machine comes with two suction modes; regular and MAX. Right out of the box, the machine is set to MAX suction, which provides a boost of suction for tougher messes or larger debris. This mode will give you up to 7 minutes of run time. In regular suction mode, which we do recommend for your everyday vacuuming, you'll get 30-40 minutes of run time, depending on if you're using a motorized tool.
You may be interested to know that the new Dyson V10 and V11 models have an advertised run time of up to 60 minutes, which is our longest run time to date.
