this is my first cordless vac of any type and it's great. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats so cleanup is a daily thing. this is great to just run around and quickly suck up pet hair and cat litter. I still use my corded vacs for more deep cleaning but this is perfect for how I use it. Easy to mount on the wall so it's always charged up when I need to use it - also love how easy it is to empty with no bags to worry about

Everything you need in a cordless vacuum

I bought this vacuum 2 weeks ago, because of my asthma,so easy to use so easy to empty I don’t need to inhale the dust .

I've used the Dyson V8 for about a month now and I'm thoroughly impressed with what this vacuum captures. It's light weight, and simple change of cleaning tools are important advantages over bulky, heavy uprights. Whether your chores involve long overdue cleaning or simple everyday tasks this machine appears up to the challenge. Battery longevity has been more than adequate for most operations around our house. And just one more note.....it's a nice piece of engineering. It's obviously been designed to be user friendly. I highly recommend this product.

Getting rid of all my other vacuums

After only owning my Dyson for a week, I'm getting rid of all my other vacuums. Now, vacuuming is not considered a chore and we actually love using it. Being cordless and lightweight are it's best features but it also has great suction is relatively quiet. While my dogs are intrigued by it, they don't attack it as with other vacuums with the high pitched noise. Way to go Dyson!!!

Wouldn’t buy again

I really wanted to like this but the battery life and lack of power are disappointing. It barely cleans one room in our house before sputtering off and on. It’s not refurbished. So we’ve gone back to a non-Dyson corded model with stronger suction.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you've had some issues with your Dyson V8 cord-free. With regard to the battery life and suction, your machine does offer two modes of suction power. Regular mode, which will provide up to 30-40 minutes of run time, generally provides sufficient suction for everyday household cleaning. For larger debris or more stubborn messes in the home, you can switch the machine in to MAX suction mode to receive a strong boost of power. This mode will give just 7 minutes of run time on a full battery charge, and should not be used for everyday cleaning. Also, when using this mode, we would suggest allowing some time for your machine to cool down prior to charging again, to help prolong overall battery health and life.
It sounds like you are experiencing a pulsing type sound while using your machine. This isn't a fault of the vacuum, but rather an alert letting you know that there is a blockage in the machine, or that the filters need to be cleaned. We would be more than happy to troubleshoot the issue with you, as this is easily resolved with some simple yet effective troubleshooting steps you can do at home.
