I loved my last Dyson that only died because my dog ate the cord after 10 years. I replaced it with a cordless one and found the strength is very good, the attachments are handy, and the cordless idea is just perfect! Their are a couple of downsides. I could only vacuum the downstairs and stairs before it needed charged, and the handle gave my thumb a wicked blister. I don't love that I have to hold down the power button either. I was used to the older version and may add an old school style for the carpeted areas, as holding this one rather hurt after a lengthy time. It is lightweight and easy to maneuver, so I may also just have to get used to the changes.

Excellent Suction

This is Marge. I received my Dyson for a Xmas present. Great suction and happy to see what I thought was clean had much dust in it. So I will recommend it.
What I didn't like:1) I had to keep my finger on the switch ALL the time to keep it on. This made the section between my thumb and pointer finger Red! Sometimes I switched hand to find comfort. 2) Difficult to empty canister over a bag with the tall length attached. Sometimes dust went on the floor. 3) It has a high pitch whistle when powered on.

Better than previous model but still needs work

I had the DC 35 version and after 5 years the battery went out and it now only runs on one speed so I decided to get a new one. This new version works well, picks up larger options, and is more quite but I do not like the way you have to dump the waste materials. You have to lift one part, wait for the bottom to fall out, then push back the one part and then push the bottom back together. It constantly gets stuck when it should be one solid fluid motion and if you are using the long attachment (I use it all the time, daily) it is too heavy to hold and try and remove the debris at the same time. I like the way it got rid of debris previously. That right now is my only complaint, well along with the fact that it scratches way too easily.

Good vaccum only for a short period of time

Liked vacuum when first purchased and even bought another for second home. Within 6 months of occasional use, started having issues with both. I have finally stopped buying replacement parts to keep these operational. Extremely disapointed with quality for the price

Works as advertised

Purchased a couple of weeks ago and works as advertised. Good suction and the carpet and bare floor attachments work great. Especially good for cleaning medium to short nap throw rugs. The hanging bracket could use additional areas to hold the attachments. Perhaps a bit over priced but does do the job. Looking forward to see how it hold up long term.

Battery life is not great and the “extended suction” mode does not really suction.

Hello,
Thank you for your review. This is Miella from Dyson. We're sorry to hear of your experience with your Dyson V8 Absolute cordless machine. The V8 Absolute is designed to provide up to 40 minutes of run time, depending on the mode and tools used. The machine does include two modes: the powerful suction mode you mentioned and the max mode. The powerful suction mode is designed to be great for the majority of cleaning tasks, and the max mode is there if you need a temporary boost of power. Because of this, the max mode provides 8 continuous minutes.
We'd value the opportunity to learn more about your experience with your Dyson as we'd like to help ensure you are having a 5-star experience. Please feel free to reach out to us at askdysonUS@dyson.com, and we will be in touch.

Mostly works well

We live in a dusty area so I love having easy access to a vacuum cleaner. This cordless model beats our heavy, corded vacuum cleaners for ease of use. It works well 80% of the time, but sometimes overheats or stops/starts suddenly. All in all, I'm glad we bought it.
