battery doesnt last and recharge takes too long

Hello MJB, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you've found the battery life in the Dyson V8 Absolute to be disappointing. Your vacuum will come with standard and Max power modes. Our cordless models also have a run-time enhancing light touch trigger which ensures battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed. In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using. A fully depleted battery will take roughly 5 hours to receive a full charge.
While we don't ever expect any problems to occur with your V8 Absolute, Dyson does back your new machine from an authorized retailer with a free 2-year guarantee. We got the V6 A few years ago and I thought that was the best vacuum I'd ever had. Just got this one last week and I love it! I didn't think it was possible to like it more than the other one, but I do!

Perfect Tool for Cleaning Off Pet Hair

This was a gift that got lost in our last move. I promptly purchased it again because the vacuum is powerful and can pick up pet hair better than any other tried. The real beauty of it is that it’s cordless! Makes it so easy to vacuum the stairs and in tight spaces. It works great inside cars, too!

Excellent pick-up, easy to maneuver; keeping the suction on low I am able to clean all floors in my 1870 sq ft home before charging.
The direct drive cleaner head stopped working in less than a year. Unacceptable for the price point. Difficult to clean; getting into the cup is the main problem, consequently, the smell is always there.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought it and have been using it since it became fully charged! Did the WHOLE 1600sqft house in one charge! Love is Worth Every Penny

I am impressed with this product. Very strong, practical and easy to use and clean. Downside for me only the battery duration but 20 min is enough for most of the use I make of it...
