[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cordless vacuums. They always felt like a thing of the future to me. Owning two dogs and a cat, vacuums are something we tend to purchase and use frequently. We had been getting tired of using heavy vacuums all the time and dragging them around the house. We decided to look into this supposed lightweight, cord-free option.
The Dyson V8 Motörhead Origin was broke into just a few pieces when opening the box. It was very easy to assemble even without the provided instructions. This unit came with the main vacuum roller as well as an attachment to reach crevices. There is a provided wall mount with two screws and two concrete anchors where you can choose to mount your device and just simply return it to the base to charge it. We took full advantage of this and placed it on the mount in our living room closet. Out of sight, out of mind, until we need it!
The instructions state this vacuum takes around 5 hours to fully charge. It took mine around 5 hours and 15 minutes so I would say this is pretty accurate. It has two settings: max suction and powerful suction. The powerful suction lasts for 40 minutes and max suction (which gives you a more powerful suction) drains the battery within 7 minutes. So far, I haven’t had to use the max suction option. The powerful suction option has been sufficient to vacuum up all the pet hair I want as well as my toddlers’ food crumbs.
The container that stores all of your vacuum remnants has max fill line that indicates when you are supposed to “dump the trash.” This vacuum also has two separate filters which you can clean once a month with cold water. All in all, I am very pleased with this vacuum. Naturally, I would love for the battery to last longer but I know there is only so much you can do with technology limitations. For a vacuum to be this light and still suction the way it does: it works great for me!

I have honestly had to get used to how to maneuver it because it’s so light. I love they the roller attachment can turn in almost any directions. I can now get into small awkward areas and even under the couch with ease! I have a dog and it does a great job of getting all his hairs up. The only thing I don’t like is that I have to hold the button down for it to stay on. If I’m doing my whole house, my fingers/hand are actually sore after.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dyson V8 Motorhead Origin is by far the best vacuum cleaner that I’ve ever owned! It’s a nice weight, and it has powerful suction to easily clean my carpeting and area rugs with virtually no effort. Not having a cord in the way makes it so much easier to clean with. I’m very fond of being able to convert it into a handheld vacuum, this way I can reach my ceiling fans and anything up high with ease. I cleaned my car out with it, and it did an amazing job! It’s so easy to put together, take apart, and clean. You don’t even have to touch the canister while emptying it. The charge lasts pretty long, depending on how long you’re using it, and at what power level you have it on. It feels comfortable, as well as cleans effectively, and efficiently! I love my new Dyson!

Lol, at first I could not believe that it could possibly fit into such a small box! I was able assemble it with in 5 minutes. It came fully charged so I immediately used it and am thrilled. I have five dogs that shed constantly. The Dyson vacuumed up the hair easily. Being cordless is making my life (and cleaning) so much simpler! I love it!!! It has a small canister but is very adequate and easy to empty. I definitely recommend this vac!

I was hesitant about how well it would work because of how light weight it is, but it did not disappoint!! This vacuum cleans well, is sleek in design and takes up very little space.

Hi Marie, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear you've been disappointed with the run time that the V8 Absolute provides. Dyson V8 vacuums have a run time of up to 40 minutes, when used in standard power mode. In MAX power, run time will be shorter due to the added boost of suction power. You should find that suction in standard power mode is sufficient for most tasks, while MAX is better suited for tough cleaning jobs. You may be interested to know that the newer Dyson cord-free models offer a newly designed click-in battery, and some models include 2 batteries, providing up to 120 minutes of run time.
