Works good but wore out faster than expected

Overall a nice vacuum. When you empty the bin you pull up the filter housing. With time the fit became off kilter. Now it is difficult to close it and get a good seal.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're glad to hear that overall in your use, you've had such a positive experience with your V8 Absolute. I can confirm that when you do empty the dust bin, the latch will get pulled twice; first to lift the cyclone up out of the bin, and a second time to open the bin base door. The bin door or cyclone can get jammed if the door is closed prior to putting the cyclone back in to place.
To help resolve this, you will want to ensure you only have the handheld portion, with the wand and floor tool removed. Then, lay the machine on its side and look at the underside of the bin. You will see a red tab at the inner spine there, between the bin and the battery. Using a flat head screwdriver, press that red tab back and at the same time, pull the bin down and away from the cyclone. You'll see it pop out slightly (essentially separating from the main body and cyclone), and you should be able to pull the lever up as the bin is disconnected from the cyclone.
After doing this, follow the steps in the video link below to realign the bin back onto the cyclone: https://youtu.be/gc53I9cw4bo?t=33

Underwhelming

The good thing is that it literally feels like it is sucking the floor and getting the thinnest layer of dust. The battery is awful, I cannot finish one room properly before the battery dies. Secondly, it doesn't feel sturdy or high quality. I also don't like how the top is heavy and the bottom is not, it is hard on the wrists. Definitely not wowed or amazed at the price.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello, this is Kelly with Dyson. We are sorry to hear that you've found the run time with your Dyson V8™ vacuum to be so short. You do have two suction modes; regular and MAX. MAX provides a boost of suction and up to 7 minutes of run time. This makes MAX ideal for larger debris or more stubborn messes, rather than everyday cleaning. Regular suction mode offers up to 40 minutes of run time (30 when using a motorized attachment).

I bought this vacuum for my apartment. Love the longer battery life and light weight. Easy to bring outside to vacuum out the vehicles as well.

I love this vacuum. I cannot keep my hands off it. I use it every day, multiple times a day. There are so many great attachments, it's inspired me to vacuum places that had never crossed my mind to clean. It literally makes vacuuming a joy. It'll make you feel like you have your life together.
People might think I'm crazy, but I just think it's a darn good vacuum that literally does it all. I have a house (and car) full of pet dander, plant debris, smog deposits, pollen... and am allergic to ALL of it, so this vacuum is a life safer. It's my new best friend. My date night companion. May it live forever. Thank you, Dyson.

Excellent vacuum

Purchased a different brand and returned it after two weeks. This model has suction for both front and backward motion. The battery is fine for our usage which is a quick cleanup job. When the whole house has to be cleaned we use a full-size Dyson wired vacuum. This is the third Dyson we purchased and all three live and are used in our household weekly. Don’t make the mistake of buying an inferior brand!
