7 min run time on berber carpet

Bought this vacuum yesterday, charged it for 5 hours, I was so excited and vacuumed for 7 min. on Berber carpet it died and now is back on the charger. It's going back on Monday.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your review on the V8 Absolute. The V8 is a great cordless for in between cleanings, quick clean ups or small areas as it does feature up to 40 minutes of constant suction in standard mode and 7 minutes on MAX power for tougher jobs. We recommend using it in standard mode to get the longer run time. This can be done by the switch on top of the main body.

Perfect for all surfaces, great suction, and lite weight. This machine is easy to use and even makes vacuuming more enjoyable (if that is possible). I would recommend this machine to anyone.

Useful tool, with a shocking flaw

I love the portability and ease of use that comes with the V8. The hardwood roller is great, while the carpet power tool picks up dog hair with ease.
However, I find that with any extended use (more than a few minutes continuously) I start getting a static shock from the charging port. It's not particularly painful, but certainly annoying. I'd expect better from Dyson, especially given the retail price of this vacuum.

After debating for years whether a Dyson vacuum would be worth the investment, my husband and I finally took the plunge. In previous years, we purchased a competitor's bagless upright and then went back to an upright with a bag. I hated both. The Dyson V8 Absolute has proven to be a breath of fresh air, literally! Its cordless feature allows me to go anywhere without having to stop. The many options it comes with have allowed me to clean upholstery, electronics, edges, carpets, rugs, wood floors, stairs, and even my children blasted vehicles seamlessly. Did I mention we are also dog owners? Emptying the canister is also super simple.
Honestly, its power and versatility has made me obsessed with vacuuming! I can even get under furniture (beds, couches, etc.) with ease since it has such a long extension. This unit is so cool with its super sleek design that even my children have asked if they can learn how to clean with it!
We are new homeowners and "Dyson" - we call him by name - has been a fantastic addition! With its 2-Year Warranty and 7-day a week customer service, we are hoping "Dyson" will stand the test of time.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Our home is all wood floors and stairs, dog hair travels everywhere but now with daily quick use of the Dyson V8, we have the house under control! The attachments are fantastic and cleans rugs like nothing else! Love this vacuum! The battery lasts long enough to clean a 2800 Sq ft house twice before needing to be plugged in.
