not great long term

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] it was good for the first few months we owned it, of course it’s stated in the description the battery is only meant to hold up about forty minutes anyway and max suction makes that time much less. After owning it for over a year, I would say it’s not a great product. I’ve owned other Dyson vacuums which hold up a lot better, but after only a short time this vacuum is taking over 3 hours to get a full charge which lasts less than fifteen minutes. Again, I think the corded dyson vacuums are the way to go if you’re looking for a long term investment that will serve you well.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Dyson V8 does sport up to 40-minutes of run time, depending on the mode used. In max mode, the machine provides a total of 8 minutes. The charge time from a completely depleted battery is 3.5 hours.
Battery degradation is completely normal for the lithium-ion battery; like that of a cell phone or laptop battery, the charge and charge time can be diminished. However, with the Dyson V8 Animal, the battery degradation is minimal and not extremely affected.

Excellent vacuum

This machine is versatile and powerful! It’s also lightweight. I like that you can go from stick vacuum to handheld in a click. All tools can be changed with one click. The bin is very easy to empty. Best vacuum purchase ever! I am very happy!

Very good unit, this was a upgrade to an older dyson. This is a huge upgrade as far as battery life. Same great Dyson product.

Operating manual

I just bought the V8 Animal. It would be nice to have a wall-mounted storage rack for the attachments so I can keep track of them. Also, the pictures in the Operating Manual are fine, but could use a few words to clarify interpretation. They're not as intuitive as you think.

We needed to replace an old vacuum that was cumbersome to use. This is the answer for us. Easy to use vacuuming a large staircase, as well as other areas. The accessories are excellent.
