My husband made me a gift for our wedding anniversary and there is no better gift than this dyson, I clean with pleasure, every day, without exception.

Overall not a great buy

I do like the portability and great suction of the vacuum, but the battery life is not great, and the charge broke within 2 months of use.

Battery issue

I have owned the DA for a year and will not buy this product again. The battery dies after less then 1 minute of use, very disappointing.

Good to use and easy. Have tile floor throughout home. Picks up dog hair and the tiny bugs we have in florida, not so well with the fine sand. Like that it has attachments for low and high places. Problem is it may absorb some of the animal smell that is in his fur due to his condition.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I’m sad to say that I’ve had my vacuum less than 2 years and I cannot even get one room finished in regular mode before the battery dies. I don’t even attempt max mode anymore because it only lasts maybe a minute . So disappointing considering how much you pay for a Dyson.

Hello Kallie, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry to hear that after just two years of use, you're experiencing loss of battery life with your Dyson V8 Animal. Lithium-Ion batteries are subject to degradation over time. This is completely normal and occurs with any device that uses this type of battery. Battery degradation is not a fault of the machine. It happens to all batteries in everyday items, such as mobile phones and laptops. Unfortunately, we are unable to advise how long each component will last in each individual's home.
Dyson V8 Animal also features two suction modes; MAX and standard. Please keep in mind that the V8 offers plenty of suction on normal power to effectively clean your floors because of the motorized brush bar. MAX power is really only needed for tough cleaning jobs. Also, while many do use Dyson cordless machines as their main vacuum at home, if you prefer a longer run time, we’d recommend one of our compact uprights or canister models.

We were really excited to buy our first Dyson, but we’ve been sorely disappointed. We spend as much time maintaining this vacuum as we do using it. It’s very temperamental. The battery is pathetic. I never imagined that vacuuming could become so frustrating. 18 months later, we’re giving up on Dyson and going with another brand.

Literally such a waste of money

Bought this maybe 1-2 years ago. If you use the high power setting (which, let me tell you, you’ll have to if you want to actually vacuum anything up) it dies in 7 minutes. Literally. They aren’t joking when they say you get up to 7 minutes on the high power. And about a month ago the spin brush stopped working. Such a piece of…work…

Hello Sara, this is Kelly with Dyson. I can confirm that if you're using your V8 cord-free in MAX suction mode, you will receive less run time. This is due to the boost of suction that MAX mode provides. This mode is great for larger debris or more stubborn messes and we wouldn't expect to hear that this needs to be used for your everyday vacuuming. Regular most will provide you with up to 30-40 minutes of run time, depending on which tool you're using. The motorized floor tool will consume more power than the unmotorized attachments.
