Can be better on carpet maneuvering

Bought this a month ago and used only once yet.. Its extremely functional and the high power amazes me.. However, it is hard to maneuver through on carpeted floor particularly on high suction. Otherwise, I would recommend this to all with hardwood floor.

I bought a Dyson Vacum and I was exited because the advertising says it's a marvelous vacum.
I've been using it since 4 months ago and I'm very concern about the BATTERY working time and The vacum weight.
Battery working time is very weak, bad, very short.
I have the V8 model TT9-US-MDF1020A
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Doesn't hold charge

When I first purchased it, the charge time was disappointing as I couldn't vacuum the whole house but that time decreased and after about a year is down to 1-2 minutes after charging for days. My friend bought one around the same time and has the exact same issue. Now that I have returned it, I am not sure if I want to invest in another Dyson product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that your initial impression of run time for the Dyson V8 Animal was disappointing. Our V8 machines offer two suction modes - regular and MAX. Right out of the box, the machine is going to be set to MAX. This mode provides a boost of suction making it ideal for larger messes or more stubborn debris. This mode does give less run time - about 7 minutes or so. Regular power, which should be sufficient for everyday cleaning, will give you up to 30-40 minutes of run time, depending on if you're using the motorized floor tool.
Over time the machine will naturally lose its run time but the level of degradation over the years is very small. Battery degradation is not a fault of the machine. It happens to all batteries in everyday items, such as mobile phones and laptops. Unfortunately, we are unable to advise how long each component will last in each individual's home.
There are many factors that can affect the lifespan of a battery such as temperature and humidity, however, there are a couple of things that can be done in the way you use the machine. For example if you use the whole battery capacity in one run then you must leave the machine to cool for an hour or two before placing it back on charger. Also, try not to overuse the max power mode. This is a boost function so excessive use will limit its life span. A main contributor to battery degradation would be blockages. We advise washing the machine filter and checking the machine for blockages regularly.

Shocks on max power setting

I purchased this unit a month ago. It does a fine job cleaning everything (two kids, two dogs, and a cat) but shocks my hand when on the max power setting.

Best cordless vacuum

Have had the vacuum for 2 weeks now , absolutely unbelievable. Bought it to replace our bissel pet ion cordless and our corded vacuum. It works even better than our corded . Would highly recommend.

A unexpected grea surprise

My husband and I are flipping a home we just bought nd he purchased this to do the floors. The dust from refinishing, The carpet lint from other floors being put in. The dog hairs that came off old furniture of the previous owners. I didnt expect this item to work and I fussed about the purchase price, however, I wa greatly surprised at how beautiful the floors turned out. I would show them but we are in a situation that none of the house can be photographed until prepared. This Animal is just that a animal at cleaning floors it was not heavy, no mess, easy to use and worth the money. I am now about to purchase one for my home and maybe for our daughters home as well.

Excellent machine. Does exactly what Dyson said it would. Light weight and easy to move around. Great cleaning on both carpets and hardwood floors.

Battery concerns

I have had the vacuum for about 6 weeks. Love the versatility and all the attachments. My concern is the battery life. I timed it yesterday and it lasted 11 minutes. I have hardwood floors and it should last much longer than that. I can’t complete a whole house 1500sq ft. Vacuum in one session.
