Hasn’t even been a year!

I had gotten this vacuum not even a year ago. All of a sudden out of nowhere it just stop vacuuming. It will not spin at all. I press the button for it to start vacuuming and all I hear is air but the bottom part of the vacuum will not spin at all. Very disappointed that a vacuum this expensive did not even last a year!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Completely BLOWN Away

Dyson has done it again - they have left me almost speechless. In a world of false advertising and empty claims, you can count on Dyson to be honest. I can not tell you how it is possible that the V8 Animal is stronger, quieter, lighter and has a longer battery life - but it does! The engineering is incredible. At first, I thought perhaps I would be disappointed as it was not loud and I initially took this to mean it was not as powerful. WRONG. It is more powerful but somehow there is less noise. I was able to clean my entire downstairs (well over 1500 sq ft) as well as two full sets of stairs before the battery required a new charge. That means I got a full 40 mins out of that charge.
In addition, when I emptied the collection bin for the first time, it was much easier than in my other models: there is a simultaneous rising action of the filter area as the door to the bin releases, which forces any debris built up around it to be dropped automatically into your garbage receptacle. No more need to manually "tease" any debris out. That feature alone is a huge plus.
The smooth, powerful suction along with the stair tool made cleaning both sets in my house fast and easy. The sight of the brush marks deeply embedded into the surface of the stair treads gave me a great feeling, knowing they were thoroughly vacuumed.
One of the rooms I cleaned was a classroom used by two very messy 7 year old girls who love to create. The confetti of debris on this carpet can consist of everything from food crumbs to bits of cut up paper, colored pencil shavings, sequins, glitter and other impossibly small art supplies. I was worried about subjecting the V8 to this mess, but it picked up everything including pieces of a wooden Popsicle stick and several peanut sized beads and buttons I had overlooked. All fell right out into the trash bin when I opened it. Amazing.
I also used it yesterday to clean my ceiling fans.This is normally a multi-step process involving a ladder, an obligatory wet dust first, then dry dusting, followed by a thorough vacuuming of the surrounding furniture and carpets. Using the soft bristle attachment, it made short work of this task. The long handle meant I didn't have to drag out my ladder, as I normally do. Using the soft bristle attachment, the V8 made short work of this chore. And there was none of the normal "drift" of dust bunnies that had been knocked onto the floor to suck up afterward. I have 5 ceiling fans times about 20 mins each to clean so that's about 100 mins of cleaning or 1.5+ hours. The V8 did all 5 in 15 mins. That's about 2.5 mins each!
Tomorrow I tackle the baseboards and blinds, which I have no doubt will be made new again. Can't believe a die-hard house cleaning veteran would say this, but, I can't wait to do it!

great performance

I love this vacuum. I have an older dyson, which still works great, but it is getting too heavy for me to lug around. This dyson V8 is wonderful. It vacuums up dog hair with ease and is light weight for doing our stairs. It goes under furniture and around corners very easily, too.

Perfect for pets

I've only had this for 2 days but have used it several times. So far everything I hoped for. I have hhard floors and works great. Only complaint I would have is noise level on a hard floor. Other than that perfect!

Dyson V8 Animal

We had a Dyson V8 for the last 3 years. Finally it stopped working. Since the previous one was out of warranty, we went and bought a new Dyson V8 Animal. So far it is working great; good suction and much longer battery life (with the attachments) compared to the previous one. So far so good!

I absolutely love this vacuum! It’s so lightweight and easy to use. I use it on my vinyl floors. You’d be surprised how much dirt it picks up that you don’t even see. A must buy for any household.

Great except, holding the trigger is hard

I just bought a Dyson vacuum yesterday after trying one at a friends home the other day. Oh my! No plugs or cords to deal with, lightweight and ease of use, easy to throw away the dirt! Took me long enough to invest in this! So far, delighted with the product!
