Worst vacuum I'eve ever used

If I could give it zero stars I would. This is after a year of use. The head gets clogged literally two or three times every time we use it. I have to get a pair of plyers to get the balls of dust out of the head. Forget about using this if you don't have but a very light mist of delicate dust on your hardwood floors. Long hairs, chunks of onion skins in the kitchen, tiny bits of paper towels, everything that's not specs of light dust clogs this thing. We got it as a wedding gift and for the price and hype were expecting something amazing. It stalls on carpets and mats, even when empty and after cleaning the filter. It's extremely high maintenance and even then does a poor job. Oh and I almost forgot mentioning the design of the head with the rotating duster shoots out all the dust if you have to lift if to go over things. Very disappointed and never buying Dyson brand every again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The head shouldn't be clogging so frequently during your use, unless there is a lot of pet or human hair being vacuumed up, or debris too large to fit through the neck of the floor tool. We do recommend regular maintenance of both floor tools included with this model. The soft roller on your fluffy floor tool can be removed and washed. The brush bar on the direct-drive head should have hair removed before it's allowed to accumulate and cause any issues with the brush bar or the brush bar motor.
With regard to using the machine on floor mats which may not be fixed to the floor below, due to the strong suction you might find this to be your cause. In that instance, we would recommend vacuuming only with a forward motion, rather than a back-and-forth typical vacuuming motion, which can help to prevent this from occurring.
While we don't expect issues to occur, Dyson does back your new machine from an authorized retailer with a free 2-year guarantee. Know what you are buying it for

This vacuum is great for spot cleaning and very small jobs. If you live in a tiny apartment or need a handy kitchen cleaner-upper, this vacuum is for you. Otherwise, get something else. The “maximum” suction setting is great, but it drains the battery within 10 minutes or so.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

You do have two suction modes to choose from in our V8 models. Right out of the box, you will find the machine switched on to MAX suction, which is ideal for larger debris or those more stubborn messes. This mode provides a powerful boost of suction, but does provide less run time; just about 7-8 minutes as you recalled in your review.

Great design! Great technology!

I love how cleaning can be fun and joyful:
1. I live in high-rise apt where noise is a sensitive thing with neighbors on the same floor. I am so confident with Dyson even at night.
2. I like how it comes with a pack of brushes for different areas
3. It looks like a futuristic robotic toy!
4. I love how it's cordless.
A. I hope next models in the future would run much longer.
B. I hope you would make "cleaning tools" to keep vacuum brushes clean especially the main one.
C. I can't complain the way it's easy to empty the dirt basket, YET I wish there is an easier way to take the tangled hair out of it. Usually that makes it harder for the dirt to be driven out even tho it's built "easy emptying"
D. There is always some dirt falling in the end of emptying. So I need to do the last minute vacuum after emptying.
About C and D above:
Even with C and D, I give 5 stars. I cannot complain though because it is really good the way it is. But since it is a review, I would throw my experience of frustration in it, perhaps, you would surprise the world with even more amazing upgrades.

Previous Dysons lasted 6-8 years and were still working well when I gave them away because I was purchasing this. Wish I hadn't.

Impressive!

Bought this V8 yesterday and used it today. Very impressed with the cleaning. I've been using a Dyson upright for many years and I think this little unit pulls more dirt from the carpet than it's big brother corded model!

Great, with flaws

Of course I love this thing but it isn’t without flaws. It doesn’t stand upright alone meaning it has to be leaned against something leaving it in danger of falling over or on something, unless you hang it up on holder each time. It also doesn’t have an on switch meaning you have to hold the trigger the entire time you’re using it leaving your hand cramped. Aside from that it’s great, love the attachment for the hard woods and easy to empty the canister over a garbage.
