High praise for the Dyson V8 Animal

I received a Dyson V8 Animal for review two days ago. My household includes a rat terrier. He is a wonderful dog, but sheds year-round. I just finished vacuuming throughout my house, and the cordless V8 Animal did a great job on multiple surfaces (laminate, tile, and low-pile carpet and area rugs). It picked up dog hair with ease, and did a thorough job of cleaning. It runs quietly, is not too heavy, and is very agile. It worked very well for cleaning under beds and other furniture using High Performance Suction. Max Suction worked well with the tool for vacuuming upholstery. I am very pleased with its performance in the house, and also anticipate using it on trips in our travel trailer, when the cordless feature will be a "plus". Thank you, Dyson! The V8 Animal is another excellent innovation from your creative team.

Wonderful machine

Purchased 6 weeks ago. The machine is well designed and it's performance exceeds my expectations. Changing implements is easy and the charging/storage rack is easy to use.
The only thing I would change would be the power plug. It should lay flat against the wall rather than protrude. Reorienting the prongs 90 degrees on the power adapter would make it fit better in more situations.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It makes vacuuming fun

I love this vacuum cleaner. It's light, easy to maneuver, and has powerful suction. It comes with lots of good attachments and they are all good for getting the job done. I love not having to lug around a heavy clunky thing, chord in tow. Gets all the dog fur, and we have two pooches, including a Siberian husky who sheds profusely 24/7. I highly recommend.

Battery Life Expectancy is VERY BAD

I bought this vacuum about 6 months ago and my battery is completely dead. Just to give you an example: I clean my house once a week, so in a month I used my vacuum about 3-4 times for max of 30 minutes. I am very disappointed in this product and had to return it where I bought it from. My friend has a same vacuum and his died a year after he bought it, so he had to buy a new battery on his own money. I would not recommend this vacuum!

While we can't guarantee a lifespan of the battery, due to each individual's household use, we would certainly expect your battery to outlive the 2-year guarantee provided with your machine, when it's purchased direct with Dyson, or via a Dyson-authorized retailer.
Your vacuum will come with standard and Max power modes. Our cordless models also have a run-time enhancing light touch trigger which ensures battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed. In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using. Having a shorter run time does sound unusual, and we'd value the opportunity to go over your machine with you. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at askdysonus@dyson.com. Light weight and compact

About a month ago we bought a Dyson from Costco and it works well. Then this Christmas we received the Dyson V8 Animal for Christmas. We're keeping it for our Summer home because it's so light and the cordless option is great. Seems pretty powerful but we haven't used it much. At this moment, we're waiting for it to charge up.

I've had this vacuum about three years now and it was wonderful in the beginning. Now, it's aggravating when I have to use it. It doesn't pick up very good and it makes a whirring sound and stops then goes and so forth. It's not abused, overworked or run steadily as recommended. It's kept clean and free from any strings and debris, the filters are cleaned after ever use. I'm so very disappointed as this wasn't an inexpensive item.im not sure what I'll do.....I spent too much to just ditch it. Buyer beware.
