Poor battery performance!

Good for one year. Battery life was cut in half after one year. Terrible for the money.

The V8 features two modes: powerful suction mode and max mode. Powerful suction mode is ideal for the majority of cleaning tasks, and provides up to 40 minutes of continuous run time. The max mode is created to be a temporary boost of power for particularly stubborn messes, and provides a total run time of 8 minutes. Since the max mode is meant to be a temporary mode, excessive use can cause battery degradation to occur more quickly.

Amazing replacement for a canister

Bought this to replace the large canister vacuum we had for years. It's so fun to use, my 14 year old son keeps cleaning the house. Great that there's no bag to replace. Should have done this sooner. Makes me want to take a look at the Dyson fans for the summer. It also opened up an entire closet because its much smaller than the canister.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this vacuum awhile back. I have used it everyday. The run time didn’t last like the box had claimed and I can’t get through the whole house before it dies. I even leave it on the charger to fully charge. I’ve also have problems with it picking things up. The suction just isn’t strong enough for the things I need it to do and the max suction I can’t use at all due to it dying super quickly. I was very excited too buy this and had high hopes for it but unfortunately It just didn’t work out for me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Dyson V8 Animal features a direct-drive cleanerhead, with gentle carbon fiber bristles safe for any flooring type, but powerful enough to pick up debris from both bare floors and carpets. While the machine will offer less run time in MAX power mode, most households find standard power sufficient for everyday messes. When using your machine in MAX with the direct-drive Motorhead, run time will be approximately 7 minutes. Dyson Animal variants come equipped with a mini motorized head which is designed to pick up pet hair from furniture and stairs. You can also use this tool with the machine in MAX power for optimum pick-up, if you find that standard power is leaving pet hair behind.

Love my new dyson!

My new dyson has such great suction that I feel like it is getting all my "deep" dirt out of my carpet. I am shocked at how much dog hair and dust it sucks up each time! I love the handy mounting bracket. I will be a dyson owner for life.

Nice tool to have for quick vacuuming and reaching hard spaces

Received the the Dyson V8 Animal as Christmas gift, It is handy, transitions easily from carpet to wood to tile and back. Suction is excellent, especially dog fur! The cleaner has exceeded my expectations for getting under the beds and dressers, but it not better than a handheld for vacuuming stairs and it is not intended for extended use. User has to hold the on button the entire time or the machine turns off and if you hold it for too long it starts to hurt the top of your thumb. Additionally, it is a pain to store, unless you place it back in the mount, does not lean or rest against the wall unless placed perfectly and can not be left standing while moving furniture. I would recommend the machine with caveats.

We bought this over a year ago. It works well and is lightweight but the battery performance is poor. Suction really only works well on the MAX setting.

I just got my vacuum. So nice to not have a backache after cleaning my house. I also agree that a button to keep the vacuum on would be nice, as it's hard to keep holding the bar to keep it running with arthritic hands. So my hands hurt After vacuuming. All in all I'm glad I made the purchase. Can clean the whole house on a charge.
