Light and efficient!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have no problems with battery life as I don’t use the “max” option unless necessary. It has great suction and perfect for getting almost anywhere in the house. And yes, the cat hair comes up easily. As a senior I appreciate the weight and how easy it is to clean and maintain.

Cleans great

I bought this to replace an older model. I was impressed with the improvements to the design with emptying the container. The new design allows for all hair and dirt to easily be removed where as the older version I had some minor issues getting everything out. The cleaning ability of this machine is amazing so when we needed a vacuum at work, I recommended the Dyson and they purchased it.

Lives up to its expectations

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had the V8 Animal Pro for 2 weeks now, and it's lived up to expectations. We have a 1,200 SF apartment, which is mostly hardwood and an 8x10 area rug. The swivel head lets you get under furniture, which is awesome. The bins fills twice because it PICKS UP EVERYTHING. We have a kitten that sheds lightly- this thing picks up all the hair.
Everyone was sneezing from the dust and dander, BUT NOT ANYMORE. Cordless is awesome and the battery is more than enough for 1,200 SF. Highly recommend.

I recently bought a vacuum from another maker and I got what I paid for. Wasted my money. The Dyson was a very good price and got a lot more than I paid for. Also great warranty and support.

My old attachment don't work on my new machine

Powerful, Thoughtful and Convenient

I was very excited to receive my Dyson V8 Animal in the mail and set to charging it right away. I appreciated the light feature that shows the progress of the charge. The vacuum has two settings "regular" and "max." I was impressed with the battery life and quietness of the vacuum on the "regular" setting and found that it was plenty of suction for everyday crumbs and pet hair. My favorite feature is how the vacuum head lays flat on the ground even when putting the entire stick down to vacuum under couches or coffee tables. I don't think I have ever been able to get under these spaces without moving the furniture and this is a very well thought out and appreciated feature. I am also able to switch from the hardwood to the carpet without changing machines or vacuum heads and still feel like I am getting good suction and cleaning on both surfaces. The Dyson V8 comes with a variety of attachments for crevices, upholstery, curtains, etc. The stick is great for avoiding bending down to the floor and for getting the dust from the ceiling fans or spiderwebs from the corners. I also like that I can remove the stick if I want to use it as a hand vacuum for the car or other tight spaces. Overall, I am very impressed by the thoughtfulness and power of this machine. It really does allow you to clean any and all spaces of your home.

Dyson missing opportunity to take more of my money - hint, detachable batteries.

I got this for my wife before Christmas (it's not a present, I swear!!!). She loves it so much. On regular setting on our wood floors, this is the best vacuum. Better than our big ball. Battery power lasts a good 30 minutes or more on regular setting which is more than enough time to do our kitchen and most of the first floor. She even did our baseboards with the short brush attachment and I think she actually enjoyed it.
Dyson, listen up. Design these stick vacuums with detachable batteries. Everyone in the world is used to this concept because we own them in our power tools. This would eliminate 97.2% of the poor reviews of this products and enable you to sell additional items. For all the engineering that has gone into these products, I'm incredulous as to any reason why they don't come with detachable batteries.

Need new trigger design

The vacuum performs fine, but the trigger to use the vacuum is a poor design. It causes pressure and rubbing on your thumb, causing pain and blister.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We would certainly not expect a blister to occur as a result of using your Dyson product. If you are finding this to be your experience, we would recommend holding the unit lower down the handle to prevent rubbing or pressure on the top of your hand. Please also keep in mind that Dyson cordless vacuums will feature a runtime enhancing light touch trigger, which requires little pressure to run the unit as well. It may also prove helpful to ensure the unit is held with a firm, but not a very tight grasp, given that the light touch trigger does not require a very hard press or grasp to operate. If we can ever be of assistance with anything else, please do not take to let us know.
