Bought this vacuum and was hesitant to pay the price, but now I'm so glad I did. Well worth the money for this superior vacuum- The Dyson V8 Animal.

This amazing vacuum has made my life as a mom, wife and pet owner so much easier!!!!! Doesnt clog easily, battery lasts long enough for me to clean all my floors, amazing suction. I dont sweep anymore because this thing is amazing and cuts cleaning time in half! I recommend to EVERYONE!!! 5 KIDS 2 DOGS AND A CAT...yet my floors are amazing!!!

I purchased this about a week ago, I needed something lighter and cordless due to some back and knee issues. This has been the best vacuum I've ever purchased. It cleans seamlessly navigating from my carpet to my hardwood floors and the effortless changing of its attachments amazing! My only regret is I didn't purchase this years ago!

Purchased this vacuum a month ago, after replacing carpet with laminate flooring in the house. Does a fantastic cleaning on the new laminate, with area rug coverings, and existing hardwood floors. Can't believe the amount of dog hair that it picks up, never knew it was there. The vacuum battery does last for covering 1500 square feet of area. My only dislike about this vacuum, is the trigger design. It is not a locking trigger, so it must be held down constantly for use. A non-locking trigger I can understand, good idea, but the bottom rest on the trigger guard tends to rub on the side of your finger during use. A longer bar type activation trigger would be a better comfort for use, employing one or two fingers and no bottom finger guard to rub the side of finger during use. This would be more of a comfort for arthritic finger/hand use, from experience I can say.

(Not many uses just yet) I bought this product for its quiet operation mentioned in other reviews and for the design with household pets in mind. I actually do not have pets, but have very long hair (I am the animal for that matter.) Yes, it is quiet, and it sounds like an item brought out of a space ship. I’ve always found the noise from the traditional vacuum cleaners to be a source of stress, so this is a huge plus. Along with the convenience of cordless, I think I will vacuum more often. I am amazed with its effectiveness and efficiency as I stroke it on my carpet. The piece of innovation fills the collector very quickly. Love how easy “out & back-in” the brush roller is for dealing with my would-up hair. A quarter is all you need here. Now it’s time to empty it; pulling up on the latch handle, the inner working chamber lifts up, and the bottom flap opens, dumping its content like a bombing aircraft (sneeze x 5) – this is rather comical especially after watching a well thought out equipment in action. The bottom flap release could have been manual, however I’m not taking out a star because of this. I will simply rest the bottom on the edge of the trash bin before releasing it, next time on. The packaging/QC is superb. Only time will tell the longevity of the battery. All in all, I’d say "buy it", people. Money well spent.

LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!

I have 4 dogs---1-Lab, 2-Malti-poos, 1-Australian Shepherd---and the Lab sheds ALL the time. I had purposely not vacuumed since I ordered it online. It worked better than I expected. It picked up all of the hair on the hardwoods and did as good of a job as my full sized vacuum on the carpet. My girlfriend has one and she has been raving about it---her Mom lives with her family and has 3 cats. She brought it to church (where we both work) and I tried it out. That evening my hubby started looking online for a deal. I have only used it once, but it has made a believer out of me. Looking forward to many years of use.

WORST VACUUM EVER

Battery life is short. Maybe runs for 10 minutes before the battery dies...then it takes over an hour to charge. Wouldn't clean a studio apartment.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that in your use, you have found the run time with the V8 Animal to be too short. Your machine does feature two suction modes, Max and regular. In the Max suction mode (which the machine will be switched on to, right out of the box), you'll be receiving a boost of suction, great for larger debris or more stubborn messes. The trade-off for this boosted suction is less run time, about 7 minutes or so. In regular suction mode, which we recommend for your everyday vacuuming, your run time will be 30-40 minutes, depending on if you're using a motorized tool/attachment.

Great suction, but shocks you during use.

I bought this last week (07Dec) and have just started using it regularly.
Today, 14Dec, it shocked me while using it. I saw sparks jumping from the charging port to the palm of my hand during use. I had to use a rubber glove to continue using it.
In my mind, this makes this vacuum almost unusable while bare handed. This is not good engineering.
Dyson -- fix this! I spent a considerable amount of money on this vacuum cleaner and do not expect it to shock me during use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
