Fantastic carpet/hard floor vacuum

Purchased the Dyson V8 Animal two months ago and could not be happier. I was amazed how much dirt it picked up. So light that my 10 year old grandson enjoys using it. Stairways and couch cushions are easy to clean. Am looking forward to try all the implements.

I had a D35 corded and a V7 stick and this is more powerful than both. It's amazing how much power this vacuum has. Works great in my home and car. Like most I wish is had a longer battery life but if it lasted 24 consecutive hours I'd want more. Highly recommend.

I treat myself to this and it's the best thing I did. It makes life so easy. I have carpets and hard floors and there is no changing of equipment and you don't have to plug it in, you just carry on cleaning.

Waited for years to get a deal on one, and finally did. Have a house that’s tile and carpet with area rugs as well, and it picks up everything way better than all my other vacuum’s.

Static Shocks

I bought the V8 Animal a few months ago. Recently I noticed feeling static shocks on the hand I was using to hold the vacuum while cleaning carpets. I looked it up online and was surprised to see hundreds of Google complaints with this issue. I called Dyson directly and they acted like they had never heard about it and said it sounded like static discharge. How can Dyson put out a product which releases static discharge (very uncomfortable) when someone is using it on carpets? I am very dissatisfied with this vacuum and feel very uncomfortable using it. For this price, I do not think it's acceptable to feel shocks while vacuuming!

Poor suction power, poor battery life, you can’t recharge the unit while it is attached to the docking station, Unit overheats while in the super suction mode and then shuts off

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you're having so many issues with the V8 Animal. Regarding suction and battery life, your machine does offer two suction modes, regular and MAX. In MAX mode, your machine will receive a boost of suction power, making it great for using on larger debris or more stubborn messes. It's not unusual for the machine to feel warm to the touch in this mode, due to the extra power the battery and motor both provide. We do recommend allowing the machine time to cool down prior to placing it back on the charger.
While it's true you cannot use the machine while it's charging, it should be charging while it's on the dock. If your machine is not charging properly, it's possible the charger pin isn't snapped firmly into place and therefore it's not making sufficient contact with the machine, while docked.
