Underwhelming performance on hardwood floors

I purchased this item at the end of July and have used it for about a month now. On the positive side, this vacuum does really well on certain* carpets and rugs.The first time I used it on our rug I was very impressed by how much dirt, dust and hair came out of it however, when transition onto hardwood floors I was pretty disappointed. It's obnoxiously loud and frustrating when using the Direct Drive Cleaner Head on hardwood floors which is the only tool available to use on floors. Any debris larger than a jelly bean gets pushed around and you have to pass the vacuum multiple times or lift it over the debris in order to get it sucked up.
Overall, as my first time buying and using a dyson I definitely expected more.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dyson V8 Animal cordless is a hassle-free vacuum with powerful suction. The powerful direct-drive cleaner head removes ground-in dirt and pet hair from carpets, and self-adjusts to pick up dirt and debris from your bare floors.
We are sorry to hear that you've been underwhelmed with the performance of the direct-drive cleaner head on your bare floors. The cleaner head has gentle carbon fiber bristles safe for any flooring type, but powerful enough to pick up debris from both bare floors and carpets. If you are finding that debris is being left behind on your floors while vacuuming, you can utilize MAX suction mode, which will provide you with a strong boost of powerful suction. When using your machine in MAX with the direct-drive Motorhead, run time will be approximately 7 minutes. Dyson Animal variants come equipped with a mini motorized head which is designed to pick up pet hair from furniture and stairs. You can also use this tool with the machine in MAX power for optimum pick-up, if you find that standard power is leaving pet hair behind.

I bought as a Christmas gift to myself, I have 2 dogs and I was looking for something, cordless, lightweight to deal with daily cleaning. Works great. ( the only issue 5 hours charge for up 40 min works).

Best Xmas gift ever!!

I bought this for myself for Christmas LOL. It does a great job, I am able to vacuum the whole house on one charge. I actually only bought it to pick up the dirt that accumulates by the front door from my dog, but always end up doing more as it is so easy and light to use. And it’s great on stairs, another reason I bought it. And it’s so easy to empty, no bags.

Best Investment

Every household should have a cordless Dyson. Such easy access with the wall storage. We grab it as a handheld almost daily. The vacuum does our entire top floor - hardwood, laminate, 3 area rugs, and one carpeted bedroom. This vacuum is lightweight, grabs cobwebs, corners, does it all. Makes life much easier. Love it!

Leaves strikes in floor

Disappointed that the “rolling ball” for the hardwood floor attachments is a cheep plastic wheel that constantly leaves lines all over our hardwood floors!!
Also wish there was an option to power on and stay in rather then having to hold the trigger- not the end of the world but inconvenient.
Vacuum power seems about the same as our old vacuum for 2x the price. Maybe I got a lemon!
I am pleased about the portability and the fact that the hard wood extension fits under furniture and gets things from the very edge of the attachments (all the way to the baseboards without sweeping first!) I also like the mess free emptying.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My very first Dyson product

I've had this vacuum for a month/month and a half now and I am still in love with it. I LOVE that its cordless. I love that I can easily go from hardwood to carpet without having to change any settings. I use the max suction on my area rugs every few days and it amazes me how much it gets out. I am truly in love with this vacuum and I'm interested to see how long it lasts. I just wish the attachments came with a bag.

V* Pro Iron: Engineering Marvel!

I have had a canister Dyson for many years. Finally passed it on to my daughter and bought the V8 Pro Iron.
I was expecting to be impressed. And I certainly am! Everything about this vacuum cleaner is fantastic.
I can vacuum the whole house in half the time it used to take me.
The absence of a cord is amazingly convenient
The hard floor brush head is ingenious..
Each one of the attachments is very clever and appropriate.
The amount of suction is just right. Not too strong not too weak
One interesting thing is, when I use this vacuum it seems like the dust does not return as quickly as it used to. And I literally look for reasons to vacuum now.
I decided to buy the Dyson accessory shoulder bag. It’s super convenient and that you can carry around everything that you will need in a given session.
Cuts the vacuuming time down even further. Again, very clever..
All around, this thing is amazing. Best vacuum ever.
Hats off to the Dyson engineers. You nailed it.
