Not the best to try to vacuum a home with over 2,200 sq. ft.
Small collection canister, had to empty the canister twice to complete the job
Have to hold the trigger in all the time to run this machine, causing fingers and forearms to tire from switching hands.
Uses a fair amount of battery even on the "normal" mode.
Price for this machine, now that I bought it, is a bit much.
The power head is smaller than on upright models, takes more time to get the job done.
Prefer my DC17 with the long cord to get the job done. Most likely going to return it.

Bad battery design/life.

Had this V8 for a little over a year. Within the first year, battery died. However, Dyson replaced for free. Battery has died again and costs approx $100 dollars to replace. Battery life seems to be the only issue here. Other than the battery issues the machine operates well on nearly all surfaces.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm happy to hear that thus far in your use, you've found that your Dyson V8 Absolute works so well on multiple flooring types. The V8 Absolute does feature two cleanerheads; a direct drive head with spinning brush bar - which is a great multi-floor tool, and our soft roller head, which was designed to be used on your hard floors. The soft woven nylon and anti-static carbon fibers make this the ideal tool for picking up finer dirt and dust from bare floor surfaces. That being said, we certainly would not expect you to have a shortened run time after just a year of use, nor after receiving a replacement battery. One thing we do recommend to help ensure longevity out of your battery will be ensuring that your machine is not plugged in to charge directly after use, as charging the battery while still warm can ultimately result in damage to the battery over time. Also, as a reminder, Dyson backs all new machines from an authorized retailer with a free 2-year guarantee. We're keen to go over your machine with you and learn more about your experience, as we'd like to help ensure that your Dyson is performing properly. Please consider emailing us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com.
Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

Can you love a Vacuum?

I was skeptical at first. But, very surprised by the effectiveness of a cordless vac. This thing is amazing. Lightweight, well balanced, and quiet. More suction than our worn out central vac.
We couldn't be happier! Thanks Dyson!

Passed The Test

Being an empiricist, I conducted a test. I cleaned my carpets with my current vacuum. I then immediately cleaned them using the V8. I was very impressed at how much additional dirt and hair, I have pets, that the V8 removed from a 'clean' carpet. And vacuuming the stairs with mini-brush was a breeze.
Next up the hardwood floors. Very easy to navigate the soft roller head around all the things that are not easily moved.
Moving into the garage, the cars have never been cleaner.
I did a lot of 'make ready' work for a condo developer during high school and college for tuition money. I wish that I had one of these.

Huge Improvement Over Previous Dyson Stick Models
on November 9, 2018

I own an earlier model Dyson stic, I think it’s a DC35. Now this V8 is a huge improvement . Definitely worth the purchase price on this model. Buying from Dyson directly is definitely the way to go, best price and you get the 3 extra attachments. I own a full size Dyson as well but rarely use it anymore . Finally, these Dyson stick vacuums are actually worth the price, every penny. Amazing performance and wonderful convenience factor. I was going to purchase the V10 , just couldn’t justify the extra cost. The V8 has far exceeded my expectations. Love this vacuum!

I can't believe how powerful this extremely lightweight vacuum is! Got rid of a lot of animal (cat) hair quickly! Sure you have to empty more frequently but it's certainly worth it!
I'm a senior citizen and having a lightweight, extremely effective vacuum is a joy! Thanks to Dyson and their incredible engineering, my vacuum work is easy and does what I want....basically getting rid quickly of animal hair (and dirt)!

My constant hero

We had a Dyson Animal before but with two dogs, a Siberian Husky and a Shiba Inu, I needed something that could quickly get the hair along the wood floor. This vacuum answered my prayers. It has taken everything I have thrown at it over the last year from dusting the TV stand and speakers to vacuuming the huge four piece couch. I may have to empty the tank 4x before I'm done for the day but it never quits and takes everything. As a note though, I have also taken care to clean it for dust and perform weekly/monthly maintenance to avoid dust or hair buildup (my own or the dogs). With that little bit of extra maintenance, this vacuum is easily among my best friends.

Great for dog hair!

I just used it for the first time and absolutely love it! It moves around easily and sucks up all of my Berners fur. The battery life is ok, I will live with it because it is great for frequent small jobs! Highly recommend......picture of my Murphy so you see what I have to deal with when it comes to dog hair.
