Hi
I recently bought an V8 Absolute Model. I love the product and its performance.
My only complaint is there are no wall screws provided for the vacuum wall mount. You have all these great attachments and technology. You bring the product home then you have to run out looking for the proper screws for the mount. It would make for happier customers if the screws were provided.

I have always had Miele vacuums and have supplemented with an upright electric broom for the times I didn't want to lug the Miele out. It's a top of the line Miele and very powerful but it's heavy.
I bought this Dyson vacuum last month and there is no going back for me... it's very powerful, light and also wonderful in that there is no cord to plug, unplug, replug as you move around a room.
I can't say enough good things about it!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Battery life is horrible

I purchased my V8 last June and always had to get out my old vacuum to complete vacuuming. It says you have 40 minutes of battery life, but that's at the basic level, when you used the boost, it only last less than 5 minutes. Yes you can extend the life of the battery by vacuuming at the normal level, but the suction isn't that great. The boost is very impressive, but you can't use it long enough to complete even a small job. For the price don't waste your money.

The Best One Yet

Love the V8 and it's design. You can empty the canister without detaching the stick from the machine unlike the new Dyson 10. I can't believe Dyson changed the design. It makes it less convenient. More convenient is the goal Dyson. I have a V8 now, but wanted to buy another just in case they discontinue it. I will buy a V10 once they correct the design flaw.

Life Changing

This machine has changed our life. We have a multiple pet household and the ease of cleaning the floors, furniture - everything is mystifying with this machine. The machine itself is super easy to clean and maintain.

Unsure about this machine

NEGATIVES:
Not the best to try to vacuum a home with over 2,200 sq. ft.
Small collection canister, had to empty the canister twice to complete the job
Have to hold the trigger in all the time to run this machine, causing fingers and forearms to tire from switching hands.
Uses a fair amount of battery even on the "normal" mode.
Price for this machine, now that I bought it, is a bit much.
The power head is smaller than on upright models, takes more time to get the job done.
Prefer my DC17 with the long cord to get the job done. Most likely going to return it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bad battery design/life.

Had this V8 for a little over a year. Within the first year, battery died. However, Dyson replaced for free. Battery has died again and costs approx $100 dollars to replace. Battery life seems to be the only issue here. Other than the battery issues the machine operates well on nearly all surfaces.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The V8 Absolute does feature two cleanerheads; a direct drive head with spinning brush bar - which is a great multi-floor tool, and our soft roller head, which was designed to be used on your hard floors. The soft woven nylon and anti-static carbon fibers make this the ideal tool for picking up finer dirt and dust from bare floor surfaces. That being said, we certainly would not expect you to have a shortened run time after just a year of use, nor after receiving a replacement battery. One thing we do recommend to help ensure longevity out of your battery will be ensuring that your machine is not plugged in to charge directly after use, as charging the battery while still warm can ultimately result in damage to the battery over time. Can you love a Vacuum?

I was skeptical at first. But, very surprised by the effectiveness of a cordless vac. This thing is amazing. Lightweight, well balanced, and quiet. More suction than our worn out central vac.
