So easy to use and convenient, we vacuum much more often. Works great on carpet and wood floors. Gets up the dog hair great.

Battery Life

I bought this Absolute V8 stick vacuum because it had a 40 min run time. How deceiving. Make sure you read the fine print. It only runs 7 mins on high using the motorized(carpet) head. I love the vacuum just wish you could purchase a separate battery. You will not be able to do the whole house on one charge.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Your Dyson V8 vacuum will come with standard and Max power modes. Our cordless models also have a run-time enhancing light touch trigger which ensures battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed. In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using.
We generally would not expect that MAX suction mode is required for your everyday vacuuming. Rather, you should be able to reserve that for more stubborn messes or larger debris. That mode does provide less run time as it provides a boost of suction to the battery and motor while in use. When using MAX suction mode, we would also recommend giving time for the machine to cool off prior to placing back on the charger, to help prolong battery life.

I was so excited when I first used the vacuum. I have had two Dysons prior to the rechargeable model and it cleaned my concrete floors better than either one of those. The ONLY problem I see is battery life. I wish I could do my entire, modest home with one charge, but I cannot. I was able to do a lot and figure I will use it daily for high traffic areas and clean-ups. I will need to bring out the big guns for entire house cleaning. I am very happy with the handheld portion -- so many different appliances to connect...I love it.

Nothing Better!

I previously owned the Animal DC canister vacuum, but recently replaced with the V8 model. I love Dyson. Their products are worth the money and having two long haired cats, this vacuum is a must to clean the floors and the furniture.

Amazing stick vacuum

When fully charged, this vacuum is supreme! Downs are limited battery time on max mode, can't use with cord while charging, emptying dirt is messy, closing it spreads the dust.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Battery Life with Power Head

The Dyson V8 is a very good cordless vacuum with decent battery life when not using the Power Head. When the Power Head is attached the run time is about 20 minutes. When you use the Power Head with Max Suction run time is about 8 minutes. This information is disclosed in the the instruction manual, however the product literature only says 40 minutes max run time. Full disclosure on run time with Power Head should be mentioned. Although I'm somewhat disappointed in the run time with Power Head, the V8 is still a very good cordless vacuum with lots of nice features, like easy cansister cleaning, quiet, lots of tools and powerful suction.
I would recommend this to a friend!
