Great Vacuum/

Love this vacuum. Great accessories. The only thing that I don't like is that I have to keep the button pressed down so it can actually turn on. It gets tiring after a while. But in general best vacuum ever.

It makes life easier

I've been wanting one for a while now and I have to say dollar for dollar it's one of the best purchases that I have ever made. I will try to keep this short, I have a very dusty house due to where I live. I get Delta breezes almost daily and there is farmland upwind and a lot of trees around my house with lots of pollen. I have dark hardwood floors, (No carpet) and no matter what I did you could always see dust when the sun hit it. I would use my Dyson Upright or use a Bona floor duster and it would still show dust. Not only does the V8, (Soft roller cleaner head) get all of the dust, it pulls it out of the crevasses, (Distressed hardwood) nooks and crannies. My house is actually becoming dust free for longer periods of time. I use the Direct-drive cleaner head for my tile floors and door mats and rugs. I use it on my brick wall with the brush tool and I use it without any tools to get the dust out of my furniture duster. Every time I empty the bin I see the very fine dust that was in my house leaving my house.
I no longer see dust on my furniture 2 days after dusting. I recently rescued a cat and the cat hair was an issue, it's not any longer. It's so nice to just grab the V8 and clean up in a minute or two. I used to use the floor duster and make a pile in the corner and then use the upright to clean that up. House cleaning is just easier now and almost fun, almost.

Very Handy

I have been very pleased with the decision to purchase the V8. We have several dogs and it is very handy to have a powerful cordless vacuum that is handy to grab and do a quick cleanup. The accessory package is a nice complement of tools.
As this is a fairly new unit, the support web pages are not fully populated yet, but a message to customer service was answered quickly with the information I needed about spare filters.
I am fully satisfied with the product and would purchase again.

We've had the vacuum in the shop for just about a month now. It handles the biggest & smallest of messes with ease. Vacuuming is no longer a chore... it's kind of a quest to find out if there's anything it CAN'T handle.

CONVENIENT!

It is so easy to just pick up the Dyson and take it to any room. I was hesitant to roll my old vacuum over hardwood floors to reach the carpet in the bedrooms so I'd carry it. It wasn't so much that the old vacuum was heavy but it was cumbersome to lift and carry. Then I'd have to unwind the cord and plug it into a socket that would allow me to reach all of the carpet. And then roll up the cord again to store it. Not so with the Dyson. The Dyson also allows me to vacuum under the bed -- something I couldn't do with my old one. Love it!!

Overpriced Vacuum with minimal suction or longevity

I'm really disappointed with this purchase, especially for the high price tag. It was just ok at the beginning, and we've had this for over a year now. However, I would expect better longivity from a brand like Dyson. The suction power is pretty bad and does not pick up all dirt or hair, especially on hardwoods/tile flooring. It gets clogged constantly with minimal debris and the battery life doesn't last through more than 8 or so minutes. Would not recommend for future purchase, especially when we thought we were investing in a machine that would be with us for a while.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Your vacuum, while smaller, lightweight and cordless, can still pack the same power as a corded vacuum cleaner. This will all be thanks to the powerful V8 motor which spins at 110,000rpm, providing you with powerful suction, making our cordless machines the most powerful cordless vacuums. Dyson V8 Absolute also includes a direct drive motorized brush bar, which is designed to provide up to 150% more brush bar power than the Dyson V6 cord free vacuum.
It also sounds unusual to hear that you've found pick-up to be poor on both hard floor or tile. Your machine does come equipped with the soft roller cleaner head, which was engineered specifically for use on bare floors. I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered a short run time with your Dyson V8. Your vacuum will come with standard and Max power modes. Our cordless models also have a run-time enhancing light touch trigger which ensures battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed. In Max power run time will be up to 7 minutes, and in standard power, you can expect run times of up to 30-40 minutes depending on which tool or attachments you are using. Having a shorter run time does sound unusual, and we'd value the opportunity to go over your machine with you.

Is it possible to actually look forward to vacuuming? Yes the Dyson is a bit pricey but it is 100% worth it. I actually vacuum more now if you can believe it.
