I didn't feel I could afford a Dyson, but should have done it sooner! I love this vacuum for ease to use, lightweight, and suction. I'm learning to use accessories. Just buy it!

Life Changing

I'm a HUGE fan of the cordless vacuum cleaners from Dyson. I had a V6 Absolute for a good 3 years and it was dying on me. The battery was not charging properly anymore. With the V8 and longer battery life, i can clean my 700 sq ft apartment easily at max power without having to charge it. With my cat and my long hair.. this machine makes a cake out of all that fur, hair and dust. Let's just say it's satisfying when you empty the bin. The fluffy head is also very smooth on the floor and seems a lot softer than the V6. Highly recommended!

Light and powerful

All the different attachments are easy to change. The vacuum is light and cleans very well. When removing cat fur from furniture, sometimes we need to put it in power mode, which makes short work of removing it. We expected that we would like this vacuum as we have a full size Dyson vacuum that worked so much better than any other vacuum we have had. We were not disappointed with the portable Dyson V8. Nothing beats a Dyson.

Lightweight and easy to use. Also cleans very well.
I have difficulty removing the filter on top of the motor...old arthritic fingers. I won't give up trying to remove it to clean it.

A pleasant surprise

I admit to some trepidation in buying the V8 Absolute. How, possibly, could it meet its advertising claims? I am happy to say it certainly did. Only a few days after the last use of my previous vacuum I tried the V8. I did our whole house (just over 2000 square feet) in about 30 minutes. That included emptying the machine three times (our Black Lab is a vigorous shedder).
The V8 is light, so much so that even with my sore wrist I could manage it comfortably. It took some time to get use to using the trigger; occasionally I would release my finger when I didn't plan to, and on a couple of occasions I started the vacuum just by resting my finger next to the switch.
The V8 level of cleaning was superior to my old machine. The attachments are easy to attach and remove. If I found any fault it was that the bin was too small. Particularly when there is a lot of pet hair, it ends up pressing against the edge of the bin, making it hard to see how full the bin really is. I got it overly full a couple of times; but there seemed to be no harm. One must also take care emptying the bin, to make sure it is solidly over the trash can, for very fine dust can spread far and wide it there is any sort of air gap between the bin and the trash receptacle.
I am certainly happy with the purchase and would recommend it to others.

I bought this about 6 years ago, about a month ago my motorized head became loose and is making a very loud sound. So in need of a new one. I was just going to replace the the motorhead but figured with it being 6 years old I would spend more in replacement parts that just buying a new one. Just not sure of which one to get. Overall, I recommend this to everyone I talk to about vacuums.

This vacuum is perfect for my needs. It makes vacuuming simple, quick, and easy. Because it is so easy, I actually find myself looking for things and places to vacuum. The battery last plenty long for me and probably for most people, except for those who want to vacuum their entire mansion on one charge.
