Good but for very small areas

I don't know what I was expecting after all the hype but I certainly was not expecting such a short run time. Even on low power I barely get 20 mins of run time..I am NOT impressed with this machine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that in your use, you've been disappointed with the run time from your V8 Absolute. Your vacuum features two suction power modes; regular and MAX. Right out of the box, the machine will be set to MAX, and in this mode suction is boosted for larger debris or more stubborn messes. This mode provides about 7 minutes of run time, so it's not the mode we recommend for everyday vacuuming. Regular mode will provide you with up to 30-40 minutes of run time, which will vary if you're using a motorized tool to vacuum.

My wife has wanted the Dyson V8 for a while. I bought it for her on Valentines Day. But I am the one that uses the Dyson. The accessory holder that comes with the Dyson does not hold all of the accessories.Therefore, I purchased a 3rd party accessory holder called LANMU, picture is attached. 5 stars for the usage, 4 stars due to the accessory holder.

I bought the V8 absolute after a lot of research. I already have a dyson multifloor 2 which is certainly very good. However the V8 is so much fun to use that I only bring out the multifloor occasionally.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Doesn't Match the Hype

I finally splurged on a Dyson and I am not impressed at all. Namely, the suction (especially when using the non-carpet/roller attachments) is less that of much less expensive vacuums I have owned in the past. I was sent a replacement part, but it makes no difference. Even had I paid the amount of less costly vacuums, I still would not be satisfied with this product. I do not recommend.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

lightweight and easy to use for quick vacuums

We bought the Dyson V8 Animal for quick vacuums during the week to pick up any hair that new dog leaves around the house.

Consumer Reports is correct!! This is absolutely the best cordless stick vacuum they have ever tested!! The suction is amazing for such a small vacuum. This works perfectly for what It was designed to do. Those quick pick ups around the house. We have mostly hard surface floors throughout the home except carpet in the bedrooms. This works better on the door matts then our top rated bag less vacuum. I have seen many reviews complaining about suction time but that has not been an issue for us. We did not purchase this to be used for our only vacuum. We purchased this for quick pick ups and so far this is the only vacuum we are using since it works so well. Have not run out of battery yet. The wall charger is so easy to use and works flawlessly. Just put the vacuum back in the charger and it stops charging when its charged. That's impressive. I have had several other Dyson vacuums and have not been happy with them. This one is a home run.

Mostly great

Excellent suction on Max mode, but only lasts about 7 minutes. It seemed to have picked up dirt that another popular brand didn't. Seems to take a while (hours?) to recharge. Maybe a 'swappable' battery would be an improvement. The only real problem is that the attachment holder only holds 2 attachments out of the 5. I would have preferred a holder that accommodates all attachments along with the motor/wand and does not need to be attached to (i.e., damaging) the wall, i.e., a stand-alone/stand-up holder. Purchased Feb. 4, 2017 and have not tried all attachments yet. Beware of a big box store that does not include a key attachment (hard floor). P.S. I should be allowed to use the same Display Name for all my reviews while signed in (or tried to sign in), but the Dyson web site gives an error message.

The vacuum is great and picks up dirt I didn't even know was there. Like having two heads, one for the carpets and one for hard wood. The latter does a great job getting dirt off the wooden floors. My only complaint is the way it charges. It just seems a little awkward when you install it in a confined space. Otherwise 5 stars. Also, would like more than 40 minutes although I have yet to run out of juice before I finish cleaning.
